OK where to start, ALL ov my money goes into my computer, because I have no life. I am 15 also, so when I do get some money I try to spend my movey wisely, which brings me to my first question If I were to buy a ti500 do the batter brands like hercules actualy make a difference. I have herd that some of the crapier ones have bus problems. Next, sence radion 8500s are cheeper, would it be worth it to save the extra money to go whith it???
thanx for any input

The Radeon 8500 looks like it's going to be an excellent card, as long as ATi keep up the driver support.

If you get one, the first thing you should do is junk the driver disc, and d/l the very latest version.........

go with the 8500...its about on par with the Ti500 in performance right now, and with the rate ATI's been pumping out drivers, it sholdnt be a problem, im 15 as well, and i know how much that extra hundred dollars means, in fact if ATI keeps up the 8500 will be a faster card the the Ti500s....along with better 2D and DVD:D

Fatshlinky,

Life will always have its roadblocks and decisions to be made....

Young or Old the decision to buy a new video card is tougher than it was last time I upgraded and ATI seems to have made a decent contender with the 8500 retail.

I was going to upgrade my Leadtek Gf2 ultra for a 8500 Friday,
Read this, (http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.html?i=1562) and now I think I should rethink it all, ponder for awhile.....and keep my card that I have lol.

Regarding GF3's Leadteks always been good overclockers for me with the Pro and the Ultra

But if I was to upgrade to a GF3 it would get a Leadtek GeForce3 TDH or Leadtek Titanium 500 TD (The TDH has temp monitoring and thats a plus)

Yeah but for $45 you could buy a Digidoc 5 which has temp monitoring facilties and turns your fans on or off dpending on a preset temp as well as other cool stuff.

Or just buy a temp sensor for $20.

Is there an accurate blowing point for G-Cards? I mean we know an AMD is unstable over 55C and blows @ around 90-100C, so what about G-Cards???

P.S. My T-Bird hit 98C didn't blow, then the fan failed again and it did....oh well thats life..

well the card is only 50 bucks more so it it realy worth it. and also amd's loose reliablity around 55c because they are poorly designed, hopefuly g-force cards are a little better

ok they are poorley designed because they are highly unstable at even slightly high temperature. and how many servers do you know of that use amd. and i dont mean game servers that your friend runs. I mean web or ftp or real servers:rolleyes:

they trash Intel in the performance department, give me an ASUS i440BX with a PIII, and you could run that thing for months on end without crashing, even with the retail heatsink....heck take a P4 with a i845DDR board and see how long you run that before crashing....Via chipsets ust arent that stable...
