This is the only cable modem I have ever had. I always had DSL before this. Is it just this modem, or does it take all of them like litterally 5 minutes to reconnect to the internet after a power loss? Everyone I know says if they unplug and plug their modem back in it reconnects in about 15 seconds, but for some reason this thing takes like 5 minutes. All the lights will light up but the "online" light. It will flash the whole time and it seems to take forever to reconnect. This is leased through the cable company and I know if they can avoid giving me a new one they will or I would just call and ask them what the problem is.

Mine reconnects really fast. I don't know that it's 15 seconds but it sure as heck aint 5 minutes. None of my clients have ever complained of an issue that was the fault of the Motorola SB. If it's on lease, demand a replacement.

Approximately 20 seconds from power connected to activity.

Also depends on your ISP... the modem must download information before allowing you on. If their server is busy or slow, then it could take a while. When there is a powerout over a large area, when the power comes back on, all of the cable modems in the area would be reconnecting at the same time.
The SB 4200 I use on a lease plan, maybe 2-3 minutes. I have used this since 2/2002. I have never been concerned about it.
Online LED blinking means it's trying to get an IP, among other things.
