Okay, here's whats going on my computer wont post with both cards in and the plug connected. The first time it did and i just removed the previous video drivers and rebooted, then i got a nopost.

If i unplug the cable from my second card it boots just fine but I cant go into crossfire mode. My motherboard is an AT8 32X and i have the most recent bios. Anyone out there running a crossfire rig that can offer some advice?

Both cards do work individualy.

Is the master in Slot #1?
Is the CF-ready card in slot #2?
Is the SLI bridge chip connected to the mainboard? (if it is, remove it)
Is the dongle properly connected?

Do you have the ammerage?

Oh ya... the cards have to run at stock speeds, or they have to be clocked at the same speed.

yes the cards are in the right slots
Sli bridge chip? I didn't think crossfire uses one of those, i'll read through my motherboards manual.

Yes the dongle is properly connected (i believe) catalist control center says that the dongle is connected to the wrong DVI port on my secondary card but it dosn't seem to matter.

The AT8 is a Crossfire ready motherboard, so there would be no SLi Bridge chip, that's only on Nvida Chipsets. Also, CF cards don't have to run at the same clock speeds unlike SLi. I would make sure you are connecting your dongle correctly since it seems to be giving you errors. Acutally, if you could take a pic of the setup, that would be helpful.

That would be great, any help you could give haveing one of these systems.

Dongle cable diagram attached :) I would take a scrennie of my ATI control pannel, but i'm waiting on my memory to arrive.

looks exactly how i set it up. I got the computer running but I only get video out of the secondary on the crossfire edition card. Is there a bios setting or anything that would effect this? for now im just going to run my X850 PE

Humm.. look in the pic below, do you have the crossfire option in your ATI control pannel? There is no settings to change in your bios or anything like that. Both cards spin up correct?

About to say that, hence my graphics card spin up question.

yes, i have the corssfire option but it tells me that the cable is connected to the wrong DVI port on the slave card, moveing it dosnt seem to help.

Okay my previous PSU blew up with one X850 PE it was a 450 watt generic it still works but when i used anything that demanded high graphics my 12V would always go down to about 11.3ish. Anyway it took out a FX-55 an X850 PE and my Abit an8. Believe me when all three are bad its a problem to troubleshoot. I thought it was just the PSU and Motherboard but my old card isn't even recgonized.

Anyway my new PSU is a 700 Watt SLI certified with 4 12V busses. I think its an OCZ extreme something or other i'd have to look. Right now im just running the x850 PE in the slave slot. I got the X850 Crossfire edition to work properly in the master slot. With both cards in and the dongle properly connected i would get the post code 26. when i unpluged the dongle from the slave card and pluged it back in it would boot into windows but i couldn't enable crossfire. It said that there was an error with the cable and it wasn't plugged into the right DVI port on the slave card. Switching the cable didn't do anything.

Then it started booting normaly but the main moniter was the extra Video out from the CF edition card.

Ive tried clearing my Cmos this did nothing.

So here's where im at
YES both cards work and get power. When i did this i ran them individualy from the respective power cable they would be running from in dual card form.

YES my PSU is big enough.

I think im going to remove my drivers put the Crossfire edition card back in and connect the dongle and then try to install the drivers again.

okay, i put my crossfire edition back in and I got it to display on the moniter from the dongle once. Now my computer isn't posting with the dongle connected. (yes its connected properly, I believe). The code my motherboard gives is 26 which is a video card problem. It does boot normaly when the dongle is not connected. This is really getting frustrateing.....

from the picture above your dongle is properly connected.
For the non posting issues when connected, check that both cards are seated proper. if they are then look into the PSU being the culprit.

As far as enableing Xfire. i had to have both cards in, and uninstall the ATI drivers completely, then install with both cards in for it to work. As i was already running an XTPE before i bought the master card.

My PSU? well i know both cards are getting power i used both cards independantly on both plugs.

I only get a nopost with the dongle connected properly if i disconect the dongle it will continue to boot but the main moniter is not from the dongle its the other one on the crossfire card.

wait, so both cards work correct? (tested them indeptenditly correct?)..
do you have a picture of what your setup looks like? So we can make sure your dongle is connected correctly.

Yes both cards work independantly. Also i used an X600 pro in both card slots in the motherboard with no problems. Right now im useing two moniters on this crossfire setup but not one on the dongle The secondary on the crossfire edition card and the second one on my X850 PE. I'm sure the dongle is connected properly. It goes from the first card to the opposit DVI port on the second card. Just like in all the pictures ive seen. With the dongle connected my computer still freezes while posting on 26 but if I unplug it it seems to unfreeze. The crossfire option is in my Catalyst but it says i cant turn it on because there is no moniter connected.

Every time i try to put it into crossfire mode i get an error though. Except once but the when i tried to play the sims the application wouldn't load. I'm not sure i can get the moniter from the dongle to work right now and i dont have time to try.
