Just had a thought...

since aluminium cases are so expensive...

How viable is it to get a normal case (ie. steel construction and plastic bezel) that allows you to remove the top and side panels, and then you get a piece of sheet aluminium...remove the steel panels and make aluminium panels...

So, with a bit of craftsmanship, you get the advantages of aluminium for the price of steel

what do you guys think?

Interesting way to do that... The last time I saw decent alluminum it was pretty pricey here... just could be a local thing though... But I think alot of the big thing with those cases is also the way they look and are built to the frame more than just the metal.. dunno though.. maybe thats just me... i personally am not gonna spend that much on a case that Im gonna chop to smithireens anyways!~!

You'd make the case ~3 kilo's lighter, and it'd be a heck of a lot of work. After reading some aluminum case reviews, I finally understand the appeal. It's not so much that they're made from aluminum--the reason that they are popular is because they are extremely well thought out and constructed on the inside. They put the best steel cases to shame. At least the Lian-Li's do! And bruddah, are they expensive!
