Hi everybody,
I was turned on to a Leoscan scsi scanner and I hate to admit it, but I have never dealt with scsi devices before.
Ok here's the dilemma...I got the scsi card to function, but when I tried to configure the scanner or test it, I get error no scsi card found.
Device manager says the card is working properly, but I noticed that the scanner has another port..out going? I was wondering if it needs a terminator to get it to recknogise the scanner?
I know that some scsi scanners have the terminator built in, but I think this one is old, even though it looks brand new...and I have the card and the scanner set to #6 I.D. (scanner default).
Any help would be most apreciated, and thanks in advance.

If you have both devices set to ID 6 then they will conflict with eachother. Set one different, if possible set the SCSI card to ID:0
The other port on the back of the scanner is the pass-thru for connecting other devices to the SCSI chain. Have a look in you manual for the scanner to see if it has a built in terminator and that it is automatically set up if the scanner is the last device in the chain. Most SCSI controller cards have automatic termination, but check the maunual for that too.
Hope that helps.. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply..
The card was originaly set to I.D. 0 so I'll set it back to 0 once again..I think I will just get a terminator and see if it works.
The worst that can happen is I waste a little money. I might be able to borrow one from my freind who owns an Amiga (the big one).
The manual is pretty vague...it doesn't even reffer to termination, for that matter, it don't even tell how to setup the scsi drivers, but I fuddled my way through it.
Thanks for the help...I now know that the card and the scanner has to have a diff I.D. I should'a realised that beforehand.
Thanks again,

Wow. Another person with an Amiga.
Damn I love them things. They were way ahead of their time. They were better ten years ago than the PC is now..
Usually on the device it might have a switch for the termination, but if there isnt such a thing then its amost certain you need a seperate terminator.
Keep trying.

What kind of card is it?
Most cards like to be ID 7, you might try that. The scanner can be any ID except what the card is. On most external devices there are 2 switches. One sets the ID, I think you already found it. The other turns on the built in terminator, if there is one. If there is not one you will have to get one. I think the last one I bought came from http://www.hurricane-computers.com, they have a good selection. A passive one should do nicely.
If that does not get it running, you know where to ask.

Well, I got the terminator, installed it, same prob.
The card is an Acard 6710d pci
I have a symbios isa card as well, but this Abit SH6 has no isa slots...guess I will put the isa card into the BE6 I have here.
Methinks it is a software prob....it's desined for win95, and I'm running 98se. I could not find any win98 specific software, or drivers for the scanner.
I would try "I photo" from Ulead that I have ,but I know it won't work with 98....looks like I'll have to buy some software.
I hate companies that quit supporting something after you spend the money for it.
If I would have payed for this scanner, I would be highly P.O.ed
Oh well, at least I'm learning the quirks of scsi, and to me learning is fun (but frustrating sometimes)
Thanks for all the help:cool:
