Hi,

As you can see I'm new to the forums. I am new to pc building as well. Ok to get to the point. I am building a Gaming pc, and i need some help.

The parts i have chosen are

VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV VVVVVV

Going to buy and need advice on
- ASUS P5W DH DELUXE/WIFI-AP Socket T

- CORSAIR XMS2 2GB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145034

- Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz 4M sharing
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819115003

Purchased

- Scythe SCINF-1000 120mm CPU Cooling Fan/Heatsink
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835185027

- ATX Mid-Tower Case,550-Watt Power Supply
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1902625&CatId=1521

- Seagate Barracuda
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822148144

- e-GeForce 7900 GT CO

Now for the questions.

What is the highest i would be able to over clock the e6600 to with this config on air cooling ( scythe infinity).

Would they scythe infinity fit on the motherboard fine?

Would there be any cooling issues.

Is the ram that i choose any good?

Is the case and power supply combo any good. I know i already have it but i still have a chance to return it.

Thanks in advance for any help provided.

Can't tell you max speed, that depends on lots of factors, but I'm guessing somewhere in the range of 3.2 to 3.6 gig.

Don't know about the Scythe fitting that motherboard, but it's probably ok.

Make sure you have adequate case ventilation and a fan for the Scythe that flows a lot of air. You should be fine.

That RAM is good. The case is good. The PSU is a little lame, but you can always upgrade that later.

I'd recommend this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820148017), tight timings and can reach the higher FSB's of the processor with ease. I had some of the Corsair XMS 2x1GB PC-5400's myself, and they wouldn't hit over 370, even with a large cas. Really disapointed with them. I don't know if their DDR2-800s are much better.

but, since you purchased them, you should hit some high clock speeds, expecially with that motherboard and processor.

An e6600 will be fine with DDR2-800 ram, that's 400 FSB and he has a 9x multi. Plus the P5W DH isn't going to get 450+ FSB like the P965 chipset mobos.

The Crucial's Wowza recommend are excellent over clockers, I have them.

I have mine at ddr950 4-4-4-4 and they will max out at ddr1150 5-5-5-15 at 2.25v D9GMH IC's :D

You could consider the Abit AW9D-Max or Abit AW9D

The Crutial's linked are D9's (there are pictures floating around of the HS's off :D ), the price is very good as well.
