This is more of just an FYI for the people that don't take the percautions of ocing seriously.
I have an epox8k7a+/1800+/GF3, configured in RAID-0 using a DSL connection. I did have a d-link nic. Running on XP-pro
Within the last week, I toasted the nic, and my 256mb stick o crucuial ddr. I can handle the nic going, hey it's 3 years old, but the RAM to? The only thing I can attribute it to is the MAXXED outFSB speeds.
Let me know if you have had simlar experiences.
I've heard of similar things happening! Mostly Nic/Lan cards! I find that very strange about your Ram though. How far did you have your FSB o/c too?
hmm well i have had my fsb maxxed out too as far as i can get and still be stable, havent lost anything yet :), how long where you overclocking the fsb before things sarted to give?

I had the RAM and thew NIC in a different system before this one. In all the components were overclocked for several months. Although I was not oclocked that high. Depending on what I was doing anywhere between 141, and 148. Normally 146. Symptoms were that XP crashed. I tried to reload, but kept getting a disk.sys error. I tried several times. I then tried to reload 98, same problems, couldn't finish an install. For some reason I put a different stick o ram in and bam installed no problem, the system even feels more stable. The NIC simply just stopped functioning. That took a while to figure out, because XP stated it was OK, but my DSL wouldn't work :)

If anyone reading this is running a high FSB (150 or more) please include the name brand of your major components. I paid plenty for my stuff, but that doesn't mean it's not cheap quality :)

Thanks for the heads up! I was recently was running my FSB at 150, but backed it down when I got cable. In fear of a Lan Card break down!

NICs are cheap. Buy a couple, and you never have anything to worry about. And you have spares if the need arises!
only 3 parts in my play system even have a name-brand- CPU, mobo, and vid card. The rest is all generic no-brand crap, and it's been running at the board max- 155FSB- for about a year now. No burn-outs yet.
Sometimes parts just die, regardless of whether it's being OC'd or not. Maybe I've just been lucky? The airflow in the case is pretty good, all components are cool to the touch. Perhaps that's why, I don't know.
Anyway, when I OC a machine I expect that at any minute it could burst into flames:) This hobby is a bit dangerous for the equipment....

Before I went to this 100FSB CPU, I was running 168-170. Kingston NIC didn't like it. Efficient Networks DSL card (I forget the model number) didn't like it. Spectek and generic RAM liked being at minus PCI clock only. DLink NIC worked perfectly (DFE-530TX+). Voodoo5 worked perfectly.

I've been running at 150 fsb on my Iwill kk266 for about a year now ok since last march. I've never had anything burn up on me. I'm using crucial ram and a linksys nic.
How much voltage were you pushing through the ram? That could have something to do with it.

IBM 60gxp 40gb
Generic 56x CD drive
Generic Floppy drive

I've been running my t-bird on a 150 fsb with no problems for a couple of months in my primary box in my sig. Before that, I was running a KK266R board with Crucial ram at up to 160 fsb cas 2.
