Hello,
I've recently run into some problems on my old P-133, 32mb EDO, 1.4GIG HD, ATI 4mb EDO vc, 10baseT Lynksys nic....
After removing the drivers for my Linksys nic and restarting i got a BSOD, hit Ctrl+Alt+Del, then at the Verifying DMI screen it just stops..i mean i know the sys hasnt locked up since the little cursor thing is still flashing....
Now heres the other part i notice under the IRQ's my Display Adapter is listed as NA...?
I made a win98 boot disk and booted the system to the prompt typed sys c then ran win.ini but after scandisk the system goes no farther...And if i hit F9 to go into safe mode the system just stays at the Win98 screen...same with if I go to boot as Normal
I switched my video cards pci slot from 3 to 4 but still get the NA for the IRQ?
I was thinking of a format but decided not to..and also my dads University files are all on there, which arent backed up :( I was wondering also if after a format i could recover the files i lost?
Thank You for any help

Thank You for any help What you could do if you don't have the hardware to backup these files(cd burner) is create a partition big enough to hold the data and drag it to the new partition ..then format the partition your OS is on and reinstall ...when all is done drag the files back and delete the data partition ...or keep them on there incase you have to reformat again ;)

Yep :) I do that on this sys...but the one i'm having problems on supports a max HD size of 8GB :( and the lowest size HD i got laying around is a 12 and 20GB
EDIT: Seems like it boots from the hd now but when it gets to the Win98 screen, the HD just stops loading and it just stays at the screen....

I found a 4gig HD lying around and copied all the needed data through the command prompt, so now if I reformat would the problems go away? ie no loading from the HD and the sys not detecting an IRQ for the video card

Did you try a reg restore.. if you are not sure how I can walk you through it ..I would try this before a format...

The hardware that ive had on the pc has been there for about a year i havent changed much... A reg restor is a good idea actually that was one of my first ideas but the comp locked up before i could try it so i just forgot about it :(....Im gonna go try to do that now and see the results
