I'm Confused.

I Thought the peltier was powered by the Comp power supply

but on places like Aquastealth it says the peltier is 15 volts, can

someone please clarify thanks?

Lower wattage peltiers can be powered by a computer powersupply (usually one that is dedicated to powering just the peltier). For one's beyond the normal 12v you need to find a power supply for it kind of like this- http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1668016027

Someone have a good link for these?

15 volt peltiers will work fine at 12 volts. For peltiers over 80 watts you should use a dedicated power supply though so you don't put too much of a strain on your computers PSU. MPJA sells a nice 17 amp psu.

Hey Mota, a hearty welcome to the forums from Mr. Thompson. :D

Here is my standard list of pelt links. PSU supplier links are below. You can also find them cheap at Ebay and surplus electronics outlets.

15v will work fine at 12v granted you have enough amps at 12v

Ahh...a peltier power thread. Perfect place for me to ask my two questions:

1. Where can I get a peltier that is over 172 watts?

2. For a 24v peltier, could I just wire two molex connectors from a psu to run in serial to make it 24v? How well would this work?

1. www.tekheads.co.uk sell a 48x48 15V 220W TEC.

2. You need 2 psus wired in series - not quite just hooking two molexs together simple, see procooling.com for howtos. Or use a dedicated 24V supply.

Now That's more like it! Now...to find one in the US...

One advantage of using a dedicated PSU for your pelt is many of them allow you to adjust the voltage to dial in your pelts sweet spot. The PSUs designed for bench or HAM radio use usually have a greater range of adjustment.
