ok, in the CPU option of prime95, we have a choice of 'Athlon' or 'K6', but my cpu is a duron. I got round off error if I chose 'Athlon' for my cpu and no error if I chose 'K6', hm which one should I trush? does prime95 give more instruction if I choose Athlon? thanks

i do believe u do select k6 since a duron is a k6 and then the newer tbirds are the k7's aka athlons. :D And no its doesn't give more instructions :burn:

im pretty sure ( 99.9%) that the cpu selection menu only helps prime95 guess how long it will take your cpu to finish a WU

it shouldnt matter in the code at all.
i will confirm this though

The Duron as I am aware is a K7. The only difference being the cut down cache sizes. K6's used a different packaging and are a previous generation chip. If you do a search for Duron K6 on Google you will find no references, yet Duron K7 will produce more than a few. A Duron is NOT a K6 processor.
I would assume that if you are getting rounding errors, you have pushed your CPU or FSB too high for the system to be fully stable. Try backing the FSB down a couple of MHz. I had problems with my system running truely stable you might like to read this link Stability Testing (http://forums.overclockers.ws/vb/showthread.php?threadid=47091)
