Hubcards - performance

I've just gone out and bought a cheap hub card to network my three computers together. Does the computer that has the card installed experience a speed decrease if other computers share files across it, or will it barely make a difference - knowing this will help me decide what comp the hub card goes in. I have:

PII 350MHz 256MB RAM
Athlon 800 MHz 128MB RAM
Althon 1800+ 256MB RAM

What comp would you suggest the card should go in?

no im preety sure the card has a onboard chip that can handle the packets comming in. saying that, it wount matter what computer u put it in to.
