I just brought a new cpu fan for my Amd athlon 1333Mhz...
I have Asus A7V133-C.
I'm running my prosessor now at 1000Mhz and asus probe says that the temp is 61. OMG! Isn't that way too high?!
The fan & heatsink are properly installed, (really HUGE fan and heatsink..) I've checked it twice....
http://www.tiger-electronics.de/english/cooler1.htm
it is tiger SDA38670BT „MIPROCOOL"
another weird thing: Asus probe don't show any cpu fan speed at all... :(:( Only bios shows something over 3000rpm. Is it too slow?
Can I adjust the fan speed somehow?
i had a coolermaster with my 1gig tbird that was pretty similar to what u had
the temps were pretty bad (50-55)....did u use arctic silver thermal paste? that will help quite a bit....i might suggest you get a new heatsink/fan combo, tho
ASUS boards are also notorious for having slightly higher temps...but don't count on it....if you want to be safe
as for not being able to see the RPMs in windows...you probably need to get the new mobo drivers...that should fix it

making mobo volt hacks is a rather complicated process....but what you can do is set it up to the 12v line (im not sure what the headers voltage is offhand...i think it depends on the mobo...and it might be the same)
and if u want to vary the speeds....you can hook it up to a potentiometer (variable resisters) so u can control the speed (NOISE)
if u have any questions about how to do that just say so :)

What the...I downloaded newest asus probe and the temp dropped to 53... :D
Doesn't the Asus probe always show too high temp, or is it fixed to newest version? :D

Ok ppl, what fan / heatsink combinations would you recommend?
if your a fan of silent cooling i'd go with the glaciator...i've seen some good temps from people using this
EDIT: heres a list of some of the top performers
