Becuase I get this free :D and more to come
(Mathiew If you can ever make it to the coast during the week end there are two more Air handlers if you want one too, they're clearing them out soon. I'll try and get some put away for ya if you want)

Best thing is there are two more waiting to be pulled durring the week end! + Condencers and other parts of related material.
So a total of three condencers and evaps :D could use some help though, would make things much easier.

Is that a hint to Matt to get over there? :sn:

probably....
Sorry, I'm living in a rented basment suit now, no workshop and my main computer is in my bedroom. That sorta put a damper on the whole phase change thing (that and spending all my money and time on a SM2 class turbo miata).
I actually never even totally finnished the single stage I was making last year. I got it as far as hitting -48 unloaded, and just had to finnish the case, but quit working on it as I had no use for it. A 1/2 HP rotary compressor is not something you want running next to your head while watching a movie.
Have fun with the free stuff though. R290/CO2 cascade time ?
I wana see some old Xenons sweat... then freeze...

That sounds like me, projects dont make it out of the garage. They just get taken apart for parts for new projects. I need to get my act together and settle down with a nice unit and marry it to my computer, but I am never satisfied with results because by the time I am done I have ideas on how to improve it, and it never ends, its such a money sink lol :)

yep.. same thing here.
I am actually thinking the next time I build a computer I will just throw down the money for a nice Chilly1 or PC_ICE or whoever else unit. Something that I can just set up and actually use, rather than constantly play with and never really use.

Nice
I wish that could solve my problems. Their units are not much different from what I make, save the shiny case, and fancy braided hose, but I have my own case design going to a persision sheet metal shop after christmas and I can always put the house in to a braided sleeve.
If I ever got one of those I would just tear it apart to make it better
That and I dislike DD units strongly :santa: chillers are wonderful, they are just capable of handling large loads so much better due to the evap bottleneck limitation in DD units. I love the myth that a DD would hold the same load at a lower temperature then a chiller with the same compressor, as that is completly dependant on the load as the evap chokes at which point its time to get the pooper scooper 3000 and start scooping.
I was all ready to switch given new procs put out so little heat a DD would come out on top, but then the video cards shot up now we are told what 300w+ per card? Given your DD is also cooling you gpu(s) a chiller starts pulling ahead very strongly :)

Ah well, I got my chiller don just to have it murdered :( durring moving but now I can at least redo the cold cell and make a better evap ( I never knew 5Inch didn't exist for PVC pipe!)

lol yeah I noticed that too.

Yea, I guess chillers do come out on top if you are planning on cooling an SLI system or something. It's passable to build a tune a 3 headed single stage, but I sure wouldn't want to do it.
I've been pretty out of the loop for a while, what are current high end CPU's pumping out for heat now? What about GPU's?

I don't know since getting this dual Xeon rig I haven't had to worry about it, last 5 years or so it has performed wonderfully and given zerro issue thus I have not looked or even thought about it! but froma well rounded guestimate I'd say 200 - 300 watts nominal @ full load. Video cards are becoming the main heat producers!
