Here's the deal. I have an Asus TUV4X with a celeron 800. It's currently running at 1Ghz. It's cooled by an Alpha PEP66 & ASII. Now the thing is I can't seem to squeeze anything more outta it. Not even 1Mhz FSB. I'm pretty sure it's not the cooling that's the problem. I've had it as far as 1066 on my old board (Asus P3V4X). Now the real question. The shroud on the PEP currently has the open side towards the northbridge, the fan sucking air through the heatsink. I plan on waiting a couple of (2 or 3)months before I try wire wrapping the CPU pins to increase the Vcore, incase Asus doesn't offer a BIOS update that allows adjustment of the Vcore. Either way once I do either the CPU will definately run hotter than it does now. 37°C is the highest I've seen it so far under full load. I want to add Blorbs on my northbridge and vid card, but should I reverse the direction of the fan and shroud to blow the air up towards my PSU (Enermax 300W, that has a 92mm fan sucking air out), or leave it like it currently is? I'm thinking that the Delta 37 CFM on my heatsink will negate any cooling effect the Blorb might have on my northbridge by bowing the air past it, more than it can take in. Not sure if all of you will understand what I'm trying to get at, but those of you that do, I'd really like to hear your opinions. Am I overly worried about this or is it a valid issue?

That's a Slot1 board, right? if so, if I understand you right, I'm thinking it won't make too much of a difference either way. I'm also thinking it will be easy to experiment with so you can find out for sure which way is better. :D

my advice, leave it, i had a 633 celeron running fine at 950, but i wanted more, i then broke my mobo trying to cool it more and had to get a new one, since then my cpu has never reched above 7XX

Newp, it's a regular socket 370. The old board was a slot 1.

in that case I say leave as is. But still, it will be rather simple to flop the fan around and test both directions:D

Yeah, I tried it on friday, temps shot up 2°C. :(
Oh well, I geuss I'll never know unless I try. The real trick is keeping the warranty on the MB even though I'm going to go out and pull the northbridge heatsink off, and replace it with a different one.

so, leave the sink on the northbridge as is, and stick a hi-CFM fan on it with tape. still should be warranteed.

or, just bite the bullet, realize that OCing is a dangerous hobby that kills electronics, and void that warranty.:)
