I've got an E6300 and Asus P5B-E with the Crucial 10th anniversary 667 ram. Everything is running great, but I've been messing with some overclocking and have got some "symptoms" that I need diagnosed.

I can run at 400x7 with 5-5-5-15 and 1.9 vdimm and 1.375 core just fine. I'm just stating this for a reference point.

Anyways I've worked up to 465x7 with 5-6-6-15 and 2.0 vdimm and 1.4 core. It boots and runs, but there is a little bogging down. The HD activity will go up and it just runs way too slow. Is this b/c I'm clocking the CPU too high, or the memory too high? Would a higher vcore fix this, or a higher vdimm?

Is this a normal symptom of overclocking too much?

thanks

Something similar happened to me when i oc'd mine (referring to HD activity).

Very weird =/

my guess, overvolting the ram and the timings are too louse (yes you can set D9 IC'd ram too louse for it to be stable)
Try your settings in memtest before booting to windows with unknown stable ram settings, you don't want your windows files to get some of those errors your ram could be throwing.

I've had the same thing happen to me. Sometimes more is less. Running a complete benchmark (I highly recommend Performance Test) you can compare CPU, RAM, Video, HDD and more at each step in overclocking. Sometimes you get a nasty surprise, and overall system performance actually decreases when you overclock a little too much.

If anything the Vram is too low. The modules are rated for 2.2V so you might as well run them at that no matter what timings and speed.

Unfortunately my P5B-E only goes to 2.1, but I'll go ahead and run at that I guess.
