Hey all, I am new here to the forums but been messing around with computers since 95. So I am definitely comfortable with digging in and modifying different settings.
Now, with that being said...
I have read on all the forums but there's no real settings for o/c'ing the eVGA 7950 GX2.
Are there any experts here that have successfully O/C'd the card with only using the stock cooling, (due to the nature of the design of the card)?
I myself have successfully oc'd too:
Core Clock: 570
Memory Clock: 800
But I was wondering, has anyone gotten more out of it?
Thanks!

i got the same card, haven't yet overclocked it. But for cooling issues you can run a 120mm fan across the card and it helps out a lot. Blow the air from the back of the card were the power 4pin plug is. You should see a good drop. Learned that from catkicker.
Here you go look at atm743 about half way down.

that seem about right. i don't think it's worthwhile to push it higher on stock cooling... won't make much difference in games; only in benches, perhaps.
welcome to the forums :P

You'll wanna watch your temps at those speeds. Beyond those speeds you will need to over volt the card which would be completely inadvisable with the stock cooling solution.
I roll at 550/750. Need more voltage to go higher and won't be doing that until the watercooling shows up next week.

I have a asus 7950 GX2 watercooled and I can run it at 690 for gpu and 780 for mem.
For 7/24 I use 600/700, since most games@1600x1200 are cpu limited.

I run my clox @ 570/1.4 Passed that things get warm.

i tried 600/690 but when playing olivion the got choppy after about 20min of play time. so i turned it back to no overclock and ran just fine. Redoing to entire water cooling setup and am throwing in the dd gx2 block.

It's a good OC like others said.
No point in going higher, with 4200 X2, you're already CPU bottlenecked for most everything.

there are points to go higher, Like to see how far you can push it. So that you could boast to your freinds later  . Besides bigger better faster.
