Hi guys I need a little help with this decision. I can get a BFG 6600gt oc with a Zalman cooler for $70 Canadian or I could spend more and get eVGA 7600 gt ko for $180-200. The problem is I don't really want to spend that much money, and the only games I'm interested in are Half-life 2, Counter Strike Source and Unreal Tournament 2004. So I was wondering would the 6600gt be enough to play these games at good frames rates at 1024x768? The 6600gt will accompany an AMD 64 3200+ with 1GB ram. Thanks for the help.

hi and welcome to OCF

At that resolution 6600gt will be fine, if you want finer detail i would suggest a 7600gt ko because it is really alot of bang for the buck at $125 US.

HL2 and CSS should be ok with medium detail, but I wouldnt expect much over 40fps at detail even at 1024x768.

The 6600GT will do you just perfect.

I have an old ATI 9600 that at med settings can push out 60fps at CS:S and HL2 on a 1024x768 monitor.. of course it's less quality but there's no lag.

If my 9600 can do it, the 6600GT can do it! lol

Okay thanks for the help, I'm gonna buy it and if it doesn't perform the way I hoped then I'll just sell it and get a 7600gt. I'll post up what it does just incase anyone was wondering. Thanks again.
