I just saw a preview of a new game called Bioshock for the 360 and PC. Looks like a really cool 1st person shooter similar to Fear or Half-Life. The plot starts with you being stuck in this underwater city called Rapture which was built by all the leading minds of the time to be the perfect city, etc. Well things go wrong and now you gotta get out without being killed by the geneticly altered inhabitants. Off the bat the game sounds like about 20 other games in the past but after looking at it more you notice the differences. The biggest one being the game is nonlinear similar to Grand Theft Auto. You can go to any section of the city completing main missions and side missions. Also the in depth charicter options such as geneticly altering yourself and your weapons adds a second level along with moral choices you make in the game that determine the ultimate ending. Definately worth keeping an eye on.

yep looks awesome there was a thread somewhere in here that had the videos and how they were making it etc looks real good most likely dx10 ?

And people said DX10 games wouldn't catch on quickly. Suprisingly theres quiet a bit coming out and thats probably thanks to Vista being delayed those times to hold of the release of actual DX10.

DX10 only? Or like Crysis is supposed to be, playable w. DX9 but need DX10 for the full experience?

I wouldnt think it would be DX10 only, i think were safe.

No game that comes out in the next 2-3 years will *require* DX10. No publisher would ever allow their developer to lock out a huge number of customers like that. These games will have a DX9 rendering path and they will look just as good as other DX9 games look.

Yeah. I just meant that it would USE directx 10.

Yeah it looks good, but not as good as ss2 though
looks like ill be buying a 360 for this.

Everything I have read says it will is DX10 and don't hold me to this but I thought the Xbox 360 was DX10 or am i completely wrong on this?

X360 is DX9.
Yeah it looks good, but not as good as ss2 though
looks like ill be buying a 360 for this.
How would you know it is not as good as SS2 if you have not even played it yet? I am always in the belief that any game can be improved upon, or done better then.

Sounds like a cross between Oblivion and GTA. Interesting. Anybody have an opinion on whether how good this will be in comparison to Mass Effect?

Think we could call it in the same genre as Mass Effect but still has to be seen if they are comparable. Both look very intresting and im really really intrested in Mass Effect and its trilogy thats going to be coming.

From what I've heard its using both. More or less what quiet a few games will have for now as options if they are made that way to not lock out the lesser cards.

Officially the Xbox 360 is DX9 but is also DX10 compatable:confused:. This is what a microsoft rep told me and they couldn't really explain it. But anyways this will be one of the few games i will put a reserve on.

Keep in mind they have a team JUST for Water effects. This is truly going to be a revolutionary game in the way we look at gameplay as well as visuals, especially lighting and diffraction and things.

I hope dearly this holds true to its system shock roots as far as gameplay and doesnt end up just a clone of fear/half-life. Don't get me wrong those were both great games, but it's in my humble opinion that System Shock blows both out of the water even with its dated visuals by the way the game was delivered to the player.

Yeah, too bad we can't run SS in Windows XP. I managed to get SS2 installed but it crashed on the first frame. I really wish I would have played them all the way through.

SS2 ran in XP fine on my experiances. Mind you it was probably years ago and forgot how to do it but it can be done. I would play co-op multi player with it with umm 3-4 people.

It can be run under XP, theres a patch available iirc (I still use 2k, and its always worked fine); however there are issues with the newer processors (read 64bit) which my roomates been having no luck getting it to run under. If anyone has any tricks they used to do it under that setting I'd love to hear em.

god those screen shots make me even more impacient.
Been waiting for that one to come out since it was first announced and believed to be vaporware. I, too, hope they stay true to the atmosphere of it's roots. If it came down to giving up my System Shock 2 disc and losing a testicle, I'd be asking my girl if children were really important to her.
