can anybody here give me a suggestion on what amd processor to buy for my new pc... u see, im on a tight budget rite now... and my alloted money for the processor would be 150$ or less... wud an amd 1.2 wud do? i like it fast, cheap and overclockable.

you should be able to get something like xp1700 for about that price if not less. Checkout pricewatch.com for latest cpu prices. :D

the problem is... i live way down here... in the philippines... so it wud be a disadvantage to me ordering stuff online... and besides i dont really feel confident doing transactions online. i plan to look at specific processors u guys suggest and check out the local stores for prices. i dont think we have XP here yet. i maybe wrong.

The Athlon T-Bird 1.4GHz @266MHz FSB is your best bet because it's very cheap right now, it is already unlocked by AMD for some reason, it performs pritty well for me, and it overclocks very nicely!!! :burn:

Electing to go with AMD is the first step! Good move! You might want to try the xp 1500 or 1600.

yep. that was my first assembled rig. i was an intel boy back then. last year... it was one of the processors that i kud afford locally so i went for it. but now, having seen the overclocking possibilites of the athlon i might as well go get one myself.. oh btw, im new with this o/c thing... so bear with me.;)
