My son has CS running in server mode (not dedicated server, just creating a new game), and I'm trying to add this as a favourite at his friend's house by just typing the IP and the port. But the favourite doesn't stick. Is there a trick here that I don't know about? And where are favourites stored? I tried to search for the names of a few of my son's favourites in the Windows system registry and in files in the CS directory, but didn't find it anywhere. Can anybody help me out here? I don't want to install Gampespy Arcade or other third party software if I don't absolutely have to, and I don't want any new accounts anywhere, if I don't absolutely absolutely have to.
Make sure there aren't any filter settings that might conflict with steam searching for the local servers. (im talking about the filter settings with steam in the server tab)

No filter settings. Maybe it's not possible to connect to a non dedicated server over the internet?

I have that problem too, when I add servers to my favorites, close the game, then reopen, they arent saved anymore.
How do I fix this?
Thanks
I think it's a problem with steam. The history/favorites have never worked for me.
Solution: notepad or remember the ip
make sure you have sv_lan 0 set

That's what it sounds like to me. I've had Steam since it very first came out and a lot of those features never really worked.
