I just got a MSI GF3 Ti200 that I overclocked to 200 core and 505 memory!! My Quake3 four.dm_66 demo at 1600x1200 with 32 bit, trilinear, texture at max, geo detail at max, everything at max, is 92 FPS! Sweet!! I can oc the core to 220 and mem to 515 but anything higher gets random hangs and crash. So I bumped just below the stable to 200/505.

LOL

My visiontek is at 246/491

new revision i bet

i tried putting it up to 250/500 but it wont work as i think the voltage needs to be pushed up somehow to the gpu.
i think these 0.15 gpus are highly overclockable with 4ns ram but the bios on the card is set at a low voltage

Sweetness! I didn't want to oc my core, as it gives marginal performance boost. I got it to 220, then @ 230 it Quake3 craps out after 15 minutes. Memory though, I got to 515 but at 520 tearing and artifacts occur. I'm totally surprised, I was hoping to get the memory only up to around 450 at most.

I think visiontek just came out with a new revision or something. that is why i am getting so high in overclocking.
246/491 4ns ram also running 2x agp as my slot a mobo is only 2x.
this might make a difference.
Try switching your board to 2x agp in the bios and reboot and then overclock to my specs and write back and tell me what happens.
Other than that all i can say is that try leaving your case open or get a pci slot blower and see what happens . You might just neeed more cooling. Tell me what happens at 246/491 at 2x agp and with your case open and see if its stable.

you might have 5ns ram if you cant make it to 240/460 at this speed the ram is 4ns rated. i have no atrifacts or lockups at this speed. but once i get to 250/500 and with no artifacts still it will just lock up in quake 3 or 3dmark2001. I think the gpu doesnt have enough voltage

My views on overclocking the visiontek geforce 3 ti 200 to ti 500 speeds

Since the ram is hand selected 3.8 ns ram for the geforce ti 500 i dont think it is possible to recieve higher than 255/510 in a overclock unless you have watercooling and some kind of mod.
I would like to see if a pci blower would make a difference which it might help the cooling to achieve a stable 250/500.

i am happy at 246/491 as the performace from a stock geforce 3 ti 500 card is 250/500 which means there cant be much of a performance loss , maybe 2-4 fps in games. But all i know is i bought this card for 99 bucks at best buy and for price and performance the card woops the radeon 8500 and for price it just wouldnt make sense to go buy a geforce 3 ti 500 for 300 bucks as they only get a minor overclock.

i think with 4xfsaa with the highest detail level you can achieve it will match the radeon 8500 as anndtech says so in the new article. Also i have faith that nivdia will have something up their sleeves next few months as new drivers show up with even a more fps increase in games since nivdia has a history of doing so . I dont see ati 8500 drivers doing much more than what the previous drivers did.

$99 ??!! And at Best Buy??!! did you mean $199?

Yeah I think the Ti500 probably will not OC much higher then it's spec'd speed. The Ti200 is the best value.

Like I said I can't run my core higher then 220, I tried 230 but Quake3 crash after 15 minutes, for sure it's a heat issue. I noticed I only gain 3 FPS from going from 200 to 220. So, I run at 200 for better stability. But memory is a different story. I can run stable at 515. When I run 220/515, I ran Quake demo loop for half an hour w/o problems. I can't run memory at 520 without getting artifacts. My card's sweet spot seems to be 220/515, as I can run any benchmarks for long periods of time at that speed. But I decide to run at 200/505 to insure 100% stability. I might go for 210/510 after a few more days of burn in. I totally happy as I get Ti500 performance on a Ti200 price tag. Now I need to get my Athlon 1.2 Ghz & PC133 system up to a Athlon XP and DDR.

I agree and disagree, yes your price of $99 was a deal for that card, however with new drivers coming out the 8500 will flat out beat the Ti200. It is a fact that the drivers that ATI has released have increased the 8500's performance and allowed most of the hardware to work as iot should. I think that with the next release of drivers it is only gonna get better. 8500's , retail that is can oclock to 300/600 which is sweet but yep you gotta also pay more.

I plan to wait, if the next driver revision increases performance once again than to me the extrra cash is worth plus the other great features the card offers, solid 2D and excellent dvd playback, plus an overclock of 300/600 or more.

I do not think you will see anything to soon from nvidia at this time as both companies have just released their newest cards, Ti500 and 8500. Then there is the 8800 hmm but wayyyyyy toooooo muchhh.

You have a great card especially for $99 you could not ask for anything better at this time based on price.

I didn't read your earlier post. Man that's a sweet deal. I missed out on that one.

yea i got up to 250/550, and there was artifacting, i wasnt sure which one benefits the most for speed so i lowered the memory
i sit where at the speeds i am now because i use stock cooling and its rock stable, id rather not risk messing up my card
