*UPDATE* Surpassed 2.0, running at 2.17 stable. Machine will go to 2.3 but the memory becomes unstable, its already overclocked from 266 to 333, it just cant take anything higher than 166 fsb its only pc2100.

Some good ram and watercooling and I think this thing will hit 2.4, maybe 2.5

have ten days to complete my WU (if I'm reading it right). But I'm only at 5040/20000 frames. I've slacked the past couple of days and not been folding at night. But that is changed :bang head

I'm running my Athlon Xp 2100+ at 1.9ghz. I would love to take it to 2.0 but it just wont go.

Man I gota get those other computers up tonight.

I see the addiction is already beginning to take hold. You're screwed now, just like the rest of us

Fold on! :attn:

Well I have a 1.3ghz Taulatin Celly setup and folding and my Piii 733mhz is loading an Os at the moment.

After that I gota track down a stick of DDR so that I can get my 1600+ running.
Anyone got a decommisioned 256 pc2100 stick laying around??

Question.. the display thing... on my celly it loads those little ball things like one by one. But the athlon rig just flashes a new picture of new balls every 10 seconds or so.. Sorry I duno what the ball things are called.

Just first off be careful about asking for parts. There is no, buying selling outside classies, which you don't see yet (post limit access), because mods don't like that too much...

Anywho, back on topic, I assume you are using the graphical client, from talking about the "balls" and the 20000 frames. Most people here, might be slightly overgeneralizing, use the console version, and most of them have it running as a service. The graphical client uses OpenGL which causes some problems from time to time. Those balls you talk about I believe are atoms of the protein and that is the image of the protein during it's folding steps.

Welcome to the FOLD... :)

Thanks for the tip. I had actualy clicked a link in someones sig about not being able to see the classifieds but I forgot to read it. I suspected there was a post limit.

I figured out the "ball" thing..

Now, graphic client..? Will I acomplish more by running this as a service instead of this graphic client?

Just realized that was in sno's sig.

Sometimes the graphical client will turn off after finsihing a WU. I don't know why this happens but it used to do it to me when I ran the gui client back in the day. Also, I think it uses a few cpu cycles to draw the proteins, taking a little away from crunching the WU. If you run the console version, but not as a service, it will be the like the same thing without the graphics. They can sometimes be fun to watch but emIII will draw them for you as well.

I never used the graphical client, always ran the console version, actually always used wedo's one click installer. Little program that installs the folding app as a service you're set. I liked it because it always was running in the background and there was no windows open, or nothing in the tray. If I wanted to check it's status I'd open up EMIII to watch it fold.

Also if you haven't check the folding stickes out here if the folding faqs link: http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=385947

And the Welcome to OCForums' F@H team sticky: http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=386159

Lots of great info in there, more then you'll need, but take a little time and read up a little and you will learn a ton. In all honesty back when I was a newby folder I was so lost it was pathetic. Thankfully there is plenty of info available, and also a great bunch of people to support ya here.

I've been reading the Faq quite a bit now. I just got my Linux box up and folding as it doesn't do much of anything.

Now a question on EMIII.... Its showing my Frame: at 0% for both windows rigs (linux box not set up for EMIII yet, thats alot of work!) It was showing 50% for my Athlon system but its now showing zero.. I recall something about it having to fully process a frame before it would show a percent.. but its been up for nearly an hour now and hasn't changed...

Some frame can take that long or longer. My Athlon XP @ 2.3ghz is running almost 50 minute frames on it's current WU.

My 1.3 Celly only finished 5 frames last night over 6 hours.... According to EMIII.. that doesn't seem like alot.. currently its on a frame that will take 1 hour and 47 minutes. 50 minutes to go

As sno.lcn points out- the hook is set...you're done!

Just remember to spend at least as much on your lady each month equal to or greater to the increase in your monthly electric bill! :D
