im preety sure it is, and heres why, please take a look.

I calculated the watts I would need with the overclock I want, at extreme outervision and I got got 497 watt at 500 / 3500 @1.5v which I know is the working speed and volts of the dude whos been helping me :welcome: .

My modstream is like a year old maybe a little older, its 450 watts, I cannot get stable above 470 / 3300 as of yet at any volts, ive booted in to 475 with lock up in like 5 minutes.

oddly?
extreme outervision says im at 466 watt now with this stable set up at 470 / 3300 @ 1.4v. which im guessing they estimate a little high?

this is how i got these estimates.
2 100 + cfm silverstones, 1 JMC PWM 100+ cfm, the sctyle fan from my ninja (cools my raptors), and a lighted 70 mm chipset fan, 4 uv cathodes, DvD-r drive, sb audigy 2, 1 usb pci, 7900 gto .

Ive looked at alot of reviews and I need a modular, cause of my windows and lights,

This one seems like it will do the job nicely? if indeed the modstream is holding my back, ( i heard they werent that great after i bought it )

check the 12v rail with dmm underload, I had a modstream that drooped liek crazy and would crash my machine when i increased vcore without overclocking...

I got to be honest I know next to nothing about any power supply, its my weakest area & next would be electricity.

heres what i did to test, i dont know if its gonna show what you asked me to check,

its still running the stress test, i decided to lower my overclock a little cause im worried about the power supply

ok testing

tested at 3200 @460 never moved more then .05 on the 12 volt and then 3300 @ 470 which is my upper limit of stability and got the same readings.

I could probally get a boot into 475 but it s very prone to locking up at the speed even 1.50 volts and 2.4 volts on the ram i even tried looser timings.

edit 3304 @ 472 = fairly constant 11.91 - 11.93 with 1.403v in cpuZ after 2 hours of orthos blend test. rebooted got a noise i never heard form the psu, clocked it back in fear, booted at 3200 and saw the volts drop to 1.8 range fore a few secs durring the post.

bump ..

after thouse tests. im sure that upgrading my psu to the coasair 620 cant hurt, it got much better reviews then the modstream ever got.

thx for showing me how to test voltages Rattle
