Im looking for some suggestions on a standard ATX PSU (doesnt need to be redundant).
Ok so got 1 of my servers yesterday. I want to upgrade it some.
Specs are:
SuperMicro Super P6DGU
Dual P3 450's (looking for matched 667 right now)
512 PC100ECC (may raise to 1gb minimum)
4mb Trident Vid card (woot!!!! hehe, probably wont change but I may toss the 5XXX Geforce I have into it)
120mm Delta AFB (12v .9a)
Currently I have yanked the SCSI add on card as well as the SCSI drives (supported max of 8GB)..
I will be adding in a SATA or IDE HW raid card most likely the SATA for Cabling ease.(probably 4-6 SATA drives +1 IDE)
Currently it has a 300w Sparkle. I dont know the age of the PSU (appears very clean) and I seriously doubt it will be able to handle SATA drives or even much else.
I dont need Dual rails or SLI capable at all. This will solely be for the server use and not migrated to a new rig.
Thanks
I know they don't exactly draw a ton of power but its very pertinent to remember we're talking about Pentium 3's here so the CPUs will be drawing off the 5v rail. So new designs like the Enhance 400 watt 80+ would be out due to only 14 A available on the 5volt rail.
With that in mind, what might be a good choice is what I have in my desktop, the Enermax 485 watt Noisetaker 2 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817194009). You'll be getting a fairly efficient (75-80%) design that still has a decent 5V rail and it also has plenty of SATA power connectors which would be convenient for you. I was initially looking at newer sparkle units but then this hit me =)
Anyone else?
*Edit - btw, your avatar and the quote in your sig own*
Of course there is always a server grade power supply like the Zippy 400 watt psu (http://store.myaopen.com/ziphgtru40br.html) to consider. Only downside being just 2 x sata power connectors connectors.

yeah thats why I am asking for help. I dont know what PSU's are better for the use here due to the 5v draw.

Some of the older single 12v FSP designs will work, like the old FSP530-60GNA or FSP400-60PFN. There should be all Teapo caps in these two models - I know my 530W is like that.
If you want something that can do this job and handle a good 12v load later, there's always the Zippy 460w and 500W gaming units or Silverstone ST56ZF.

Also on anybody else's high load server list would be the Supermicro Ablecom PWS-0056 650W unit. I've used one with zero complaints. Build quality is solid and electrical characteristics are very good as well.

Well the PSU will be here on Friday, I will try my best to beat it up thoroughly.
Now to find a case that is not overly expensive but has hotswap bays.

Not a shill but a sacrificial lamb maybe. I sw the PWS-0060 being dissected on badcaps.net and that is why I decided to try this 650W Lite-On monster. Apart from the rather barebones asthetics, I had zero problems. I think there is a server case + this PSU on sale at Newegg.
