I got a 1.2 the other day and its oc at 1.4 right now but it will post at 1.5+ but won't load windows do you think that my power supply is limiting this?? because my 5v line goes down to 4.80 at full load now with this chip?? its a generic 300w and i got a 400w but i wanted to see if i could hit the limit with my 300w power supply?? is it time to swap'em so i can overclock more? i think it is.. let me know what all you guys think

You can never have to much power. I would recommend you upgrading whenever you get the chance. What are you running your vcore at. For me to get over the 1.4 bump, I had to perform a volt mod. My capped out at 1.85, now it at 2.08 rock stable.

Edit: I just saw that you had a 400w. Use that!

im at 1.8v right now but it will do 1.4ghz at 1.75v but not stable

okay im still running into the same problem with the 400watt power supply in and the 5v line drops down ot 4.75 under load.. possibly just MBM miss reporting.... but still when i go to boot up it will post at 1475mhz but won't boot, it freezes right before it says "ESCD okay...." or something like that usually but i never get to see the screen where i choose w2k or win.. it will only go through all that at 1425mhz so far is the fastest ive gotten that far...rrrr and my chip voltage is at 1.9v so i still have .5v more that i can give it.

Give us a bit more info about your setup.

Do you by chance have an Epox board with an Enermax power supply?

This was my experience. When I first decided to upgrade to a T-bird, I got a 1.2 "9". I was so bad, I returned it. (only getting to 1.333 stable) I returned the "9" for another "9". (Same problem) So I returned it again for a "Y". The amount I could o/c this chip was noticed immediately. I got it to 1.4 with a vcore set to the max. The stepping makes some sort of a difference.

The low 5V rail voltage could definitely give you problems ranging from instability to early death of the CPU.

Some people have said that they opened their PSUs and found some adjustable pots in there that let them raise the 5V rail voltage to get closer to true 5V. I'm sure you are aware that you have to be very careful when opening a PSU since the capacitors retain charge for a long time and can zap you pretty bad.

If there are no pots, then I would suggest borrowing a friend's PSU (preferably a good brand name with lots of power) so you can test your oc.

hmm i didn't know that about the thingys in the psu but i did know about the white thing that you can turn to adjust it.. ill try that later.. i guess ill live with my 1.2ghz oc @ 1.4ghz for now but i was hoping for more

I have the same kind of CPU. I can't get it above 1490MHz, not even with 2.0+ Vcore! I also got myself a new HS, to see if that helped, but it didn't. I guess this stepping isn't very good, even though it's an AXIA... What temp's are you reading?

Highest my AXIA 1.2 will go is 1450(10X145) or 10.5X138
anything higher it will not make it in to windows

i got exactly the same prob guys my 1.2 can go up to 1.43 but no more my 5V line is damn low at 4.84 and at 140 FSB my vid card goes nuts and i get lines all over the desktop so mow i'm running solidly at 10.5 X 133 but i have tried to go to 11x or up the fsb more than 136 but it wont take it.
At anything more than 1.4Ghz the pitch of the fans changes noticeably which leads me to believe that the PSU is the culprit.
I've ordered a antec 350W unit cos i've got epox so i dont wanna get enermax and sparkles are tooooo expensive.
