I have had my comptuer oc'd for about a year now and my harddrive recenly died on me and i had to replace it. But the replaced harddrive is giving me continous system lag and i cant even multitask. Even opening webpages creates some lag and programs etc. I've checked in device manager and made sure DMA was checked and i've went over my bios many times. Could this be a problem with the board? or with the chip? If anyone knows that would be great, thanks.
What type of drive is it? 7200 rpm?
How much cache does it have??
What os are you running??
Have you turned off energy management features?

its a western digital ata 100 7200rpm drive.
I've turned off the energy management settings.
Im running windows ME which was running just fine before i got the new harddrive.
I'm not sure how much cache is on it, but its model # is WD400BB.
I have yet to try the software that came with it maybe that would fix the problem.
any other suggestions?
Bust out sandra and see what bench marks it pulls.
Did you reformat the drive when you got the new one or ghost from the old drive?
what file system fat 32?
Make sure the drive is running ata 66 or 100 if the bios supports it.
sisoft is the company
sandra is the software. It'll let you know if something is wrong.
