well i just installed xp and i lost all my mp3s in the process and i was attempting to restore them from a tape backup and the program kept saying media error when it was a new tape and all, then i took the tape out and it burned my fingers  so i slapped a heatsink on the underside of it and now it works fine, lol :burn:
is it normal for these things to get really hot?

Why don't you drill a hole to the left of the tape for power and install a 20MM fan :)

well this tape drive the tape only goes halfway into the drive. it still gets really hot though, i mayhave to go to active cooling ;)
