Firstly Welcome to the Forums.
You can overclock dual's but you don't get much of an ovcerclock. What do you plan to use your computer for? There are very few things that will use 2 prossecors, you'd be better of going for a single pro rig and getting a higher overclock.

well, i usually game, but i put a lot of stress of computers, i have a habit of running like 5+ programs at once, which isnt good, well the main reason i want dual progs... besides bragging rights to friends... is so that it isnt dead slow in 12 months, plus i would like to run some programs with max graphics, dunno if ill go dual, just deciding :) thx for the welcome ill prob be posting here a lot, i think im gonna oc my older comp, first gotta unlock it, then ill add a small amount of voltage, just to see it work :) l8a

Dual processors will give you a huge speed advantage over single processor systems (make sure you get xp pro or other dual cpu compatibale OS). PM mekboy, he has a dual rig and it is so kicka**. I'ma have one by the end of the week... Stupid motherboard has to come yet.

Also I fogot to mention if you go dual be ready for some heat and some power hungriness. Amd's are already power hogs but two of em can go a long way. I recommend the enermax 400w PSU AT LEAST, prolly should get the 431w or 550w(650w). You can go to AMD's site to check out compatible power supplies (it says only enermax 300w but higher will work fine). Also YOU WILL NEED COOLING!!!!! I and I bet everyone else here cannot stress enough how important cooling is for a computer. Not only will it last longer but it will be MUCH more stable. Go with a water cooling system or get some nice hsf's (heat sink/fan). Swifttech just came out with their new fan a little bit ago and if you can affoard it go with that one. Other wise I recomend the SK-6 or Silver mountain.
For mobos goto Tyan.com and look around they make dual amd mobos. If you get the tiger s2460 make sure you ask for REV3 as this one has FSB options in bios. You'll also want to get golden sockets at plycon.com they let you change multiplier and for $50 they might or might not be worth it, but if your serious about going dual processor you must have the money cause it sure is expensive!

i know about cooling, i alrdy looking at a cooling kit, i forget what it was, i turned comp off for a sec, i think it was a danger den one, well it looked good, i was thinking putting the water cooling over the cpu, then prob like 2 sets of intake/outtake fans, not sure, maybe they have something else that will do it, lol if you ever read max pc you should have seen some of the "cases of the month", hehe i got an idea, build a computer with a 32k btu ac in it, plus maybe a water cooling it in, lol that would cool the pc and your entire room

Thats not true. You have a 200mhz increase in your single cpu cyctem and so do i in my dual rig. I will proably get more once i pencil the L11 bridges on these cpu's to get 1.85v. There are not a lot of programs that fully use dual cpu's. if your a photoshop guru or video editing guy you can fully benefit from it. Even if your not you can benfit from mass multitasking. Plus theres not many out there that do it so it makes that much more special when its done. The cost can be very high but in the end i felt it was worth it.

I asnwered the question on how to overclock your cpu's here:Golden sockets (http://forums.overclockers.ws/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=47197)
read my post as it explains what i did. Theres also another method which involves the breaking and modifing of bridges on the chip which can be dangerous and thus i wouldn't recomend it to the novice. Once you get it running I can show you how to get some extra performance out of your memory with some wpcredit tweaks. Shoot for any questions yuo got as well.
