I have 512mb of pc3200 ram (256x2) running in dual channel mode on my AN35N-Ultra nforce2 motherboard. I recently came into a free stick of 256mb of pc2700 ram.

Would I be able to put the pc2700 stick into the empty slot without it affecting performance? Or will the 3200 sticks be brought down to 2700 speeds? Or is it possible to overclock the 2700 to 3200 speeds?

I think the 3200 will be brought down to 2700 speed. At that point, I guess you could OC them all, but you'd be starting at 2700 speed, so the 2700 would most likely be your limiting factor unless the 2700 was super good RAM, and the 3200 was really poor.

You may be able to run the PC2700 @ 3200 speeds with loose timings, like 3-3-3-9. Put all the sticks in and run memtest86 on them @ PC3200 speed and see what happens. Or try just the PC2700 stick w/memtest86.
