does anyone now if the plain x800 128mb 256bit can do crossfire?

i know the x800xt and x850 need a mastercard but the x300 x600 and x700 can do it without

does the plain x800 128mb need a mastercard?
or do i just put the 2 of them in a crossfire compatible motherboard?

only the r480 cores (x850 cards) from the x series (r4xx) cores can run crossfire, and only with a x850 master card. ATi initially intended to release a x800 master card but they never did so you are out of luck. the x1 series can run crossfire without a master card up to the x1800, x1900, and x1950 series* not the x series.

Basically there is no way to make your x800 run crossfire. If you put two of them in your computer you could run more monitors but would not get any advantage in games as the second card would not be used at all.

*(the x1800gto, x1900gt, and x1950 pro dont need a master card as well)
