Well i was planning on getting a dell 20" but my plans were killed when i found out g80 will not make a big of a difference on 20's. So i need a good 24" and i want it cheap but also good resolution.

Why not just step up pt the 24" dell...

Money is kind of limiting me. Maybe i should take out some things from my rig for a better monitor.

sure the g80 will make a diff on a 20, altho the the res is more important than the inches, as long as your going to have 1600x1200 or 1680x1050 or higher you'll be perfect.

Well post a price your willing to shell out. That usually helps recommendation go much smoother.

*Rattle Hows that 8800? *

its pretty sexy man, playing dark messiah, gfx are so sweet maxed out and fear has never run better.

scored 18679 in 05 with stock card and 11187 in 06 with stock card not tweaks, just 3.6 on the e6600.

well the G80 would definitely make pretty much any game out right now playable at 1920x1200....but in the future that might not be the case. The 2007WFP's have a native res of 1680x1050. That's still pretty decent for gaming. With a slightly lower res, you could max out all of the games graphic settings.

I mean, I'd definitely want the 24" over the 20"...
But, if you cannot afford the 2407, then the 2007 would be just fine.

you would get the same frames on this monitor as the 22inch you linked

both have 1680x1050 resolution so they will perform identical, if the reason for bigger is cuz you want BIGGER thats fine but as far as the g80 pushing them it will not know the difference because its still behind a 1680x1050 res.

an LCD that is 20.1" with a resolution of 1680x1050 will look a little better than a 22" with the same resolution. It will be more crisp looking because the pixels are smaller/closer to each other.

I'd really recommend going with the 2007WFP. The LCD panel is much higher quality than the Sceptre.

The E207 uses a lower quality panel than the 2007. (Which BTW, to answer your question in post #12, has a resolution of 1680x1050)

If you don't want a widescreen then that 2007FP might be good for you. You'll actually get a larger display. Since they are measured diagonally, if it's a 20" and the WFP is a 20", the NON widescreen will be larger vertically.

Personally I'd still go with the 2007WFP, but that's up to you I guess.

QFT go with the 2007WFP and never look back!

May be worth it! The single biggest difference to my PC experience compared to my old rig was the 24" panel. Spending on a good screen has always made sense, and with panels of this size it's just awesome. You'll need a lot of graphics horsepower to run a game like Oblivion with all the eyecandy on at 1900x1200 though. But for less demanding (or less poorly programmed) games, you'd be fine with that 8800.

Ok...

8800 GTS averages between 20 and 27 frames at 1900x1200 in Oblivion outdoors ( http://tomshardware.co.uk/2006/11/08/geforce_8800_uk/page9.html ). Not quite mooth. GTX is between 33 and 35, still not completely flawless for an average framerate. Rule of thumb is to have 25-30 FPS for minimal framerate, to have a smooth experience.

I'm not saying it's shabby, just giving a warning that a big display like that is prone to run into videocard limits at its native res.

yeah, but Oblivion will look just fine on that Monitor if Ran at 1680x1050, they scale fairly well. And I found that Oblivion seemed to scale a little better than most games (I think it might be the "blurryness" that HDR gives in it's lighting effects.

Agreed there. 1680x1050 is also the native resolution of many 20" WS panels. :)

I guess my message is that a 24" panel is not _required_ to bring out the best in a 8800, but it's a sweet upgrade nonetheless. Heck, I have a 24" WS and an 8800 on the way myself!

I grabbed that monitor from Staples on Black Friday for $170 A.R.

It kicks major butt, and the stand is very nice as well.

So a G80 really won't make a difference at 1280x1024, interesting.

Time to pitch this to my parents and see if they'll finally put down some money on a new monitor.
