View Full Version : Who has a e6600?
Who has one? How much FPS do you get in games, benchmark scores?
Im getting mine as soon as my check rolls in this week. Finally!

Well it depends what speed they are clocked at.
I have a E6600 that im going to be selling shortly but it does 3.4Ghz and coming from my Opteron 170 from that it annihilated it in bench marks. FPS wise it helped out some but I really don't keep track of FPS in games all that much I know my video card is a major thing holding me back in my games currently expecailly at 1920x1200 res.

lol I think the search button would help you out alot =)
vrom the 6600's i have seen they do pretty good . 3.2-3.6ghz killer superpi times . and higher 3d benchmarks vs AMD's
you will like it thats for sure and if you dont i will trade my x2 for your c2d =)

lol hmmmm x2 (even fx 62) or a e6600.. hard question there.. the E6600 ANIALATES even an fx 62... cus you can oc the e6600 so much with so little extra voltage.
E6600's easily hit 4Ghz on extreme AIR dont they??

I wouldn't say that much, on good air with performance fans I'd say 3.6 is fairly common, more or less depending on the motherboard and the chip. Perhaps with some ear bleeding fans and the right chip could do 4Ghz but I wouldn't count on it.
I was amazed at my e6600. I was coming from a s478 Prescott at 3.5Ghz and a couple GB of ram. My 1Mb superpie score was around 45s, with this C2D at 3.6 the 1Mb superpie was 14.125s. I was in awe with that and could hardly believe it. Not only that but it ripped through encoding videos. When converting a DVD quality movie to DIVX, for example, my previous setup would knock it out at about play speed. The e6600 at 3.2 does it at warp speed. Before I knew it the file was converted and ready to be played.

Not all of them, I’m only able to hit 3.4GHz so far on water with 1.512 vcore. And it doesn't look like I’ll be able to go too much higher; I’m certainly not going to give it any more voltage. Unfortunately they are not all created equally, fortunately for me 3.4GHz flies and I’m very happy with this setup! :)

You will not be dissapointed even at stock speed. This thing tears to shreds anything I throw at it. I am happy with the OC I have now, maybe later I will try for 3.6-4.0 when the 6600 starts to get a little old (3-6 months..lol)

Typically they can hit around 3.4Ghz with proper cooling. That would equate to a current AMD dual core of about 3.9Ghz. I like to see that happen on even water, or even phase.
Mine will do 3.8 gig max using high voltage with decent watercooling. I claim a stable 3.6 gig with sane vcore. Not that many will do 4 gig on air.

I keep mine at 2.4GHz and undervolt it's so fast :)

you definetly dont need ear bleading fans... i did 4ghz with my e6600 with a Yate loon baby!!! (47cfm) and an ultra 120!!! And your right about movie encoding... what my old 3.0c northwood would do at 3.5 ghz is cut into abotu 1/4th the time with my e6600 @ 3ghz

i must have a lucky chip then!!!

That's a hell of a chip. 1.55 and my max is right about 3.6. One of these weekends I'll go for the 4Ghz club if I dare put enough voltage into it.
If anybody knows, what would considered a safe limit for voltage under moderate water?
I would love to know how this chip compares to the 660 I have now. I have the E6600 and the new EVGA 680i SLi Mobo and 2-XFX 7950 GT extreme editions sitting next to me :) Oh, and 1 Ultra 120 :)
I am REALLY tempet to get the 6800 chip for about 1K but I feel I should try and enjoy the E6600 1st :)

for sucide runs (4ghz bootable, s PI stable and ss stable... also IE stable) it took 1.65v in bios which was probably quite a bit less actual.... 1.55 is the utter max in my book for 24/7... heck my chip will do 3.6 @ 1.3625 volts.

Mine runs great at 3.3ghz with low voltage, 3.8 max and 3.6 with reasonable vcore. I wouldn't set your sights on 4ghz, especially if you want something really stable. 3.5ghz if you know what you're doing. 3.2ghz should be pretty easy even on air.
What are you going to be running your e6600 with? What mb, graphics card, memory?.. all that good stuff.

Can't 4Ghz SPI1M with insane voltage? *caugh*DH*caugh*
NO not everyone needs to try it!!!!!!!

Mine with do 3.25 @ stock voltage of 1.325 and 3.7 max at 1.56. That's as high as I will go.
