I'm just not feeling it for BF 2006. The only deal that excites me is the Samsung 19" LCD at Bestbuy and I already have a Samsung 930BF I've been really happy with for almost a year. I really had my hopes pinned on the fry's ad hoping for a good deal on a 400-500GB hard drive or a good MoBo/CPU deal and was really disappointed. And I already have a HDTV

So I'm staying home and sleeping in

So what the verdict for the rest of you?

Oh and for those of you thinking about waiting in line for the Samsung 19" at best buy consider the above a ringing endorsement that it might be worth your while if it's anything like a 930BF

Going to microcenter around midnight w/ a lawn chair and a cooler full of beer . I'm definately buying one of the olevias, a few hdd's, and they have a 19" monitor for like $90 I may pick up as well. I really don't need another monitor but can't resist the price :bang head
Then I may head over to home depot or lowes and pick up a finishing nailer :D

I'll be at Best Buy. It's me first time there so I don't know what to expect. I think if I get there at 1:00am i should have a good chance of getting everything I want.

Then I have to drive home 20mi, dump my bro and loot off, and drive back for work :p I was planning to go to a LAN after work too but I think I'll just be too burnt out to care.

Do you really need to line up at best buy that early? Cuz don't they just open the doors and let everyone in anyhow? I want that 22'' Westy but not sure what time to get there.

Does Bestbuy actually let people in in order of the line? What if you showed up right when they openned up, could u walk in or would u have to get in line? I understand lines for a single product like the ps3 or wii but does anyone know how it actually works for BF?

I am going to go for it. I am going to camp out at CompUSA, I had better be first in line considering I haven't scoped out exactly where everything is, plus I plan to get 2 Hauppage TV tuners, one for me and a buddy, then I am going to load up on as many Netgear Super G routers as I can possibly afford. In the mean time, my mom will be doing the same at Circuit city, getting her, her friend, and I 2gig Sandisk Cruzer Micro's, and then loading up on as many 1 gig Sandisk Cruzer minis for 3.99 as she can possibly get her hands on.

And I also think I am going to get an 8 gig Creative Zen Micro Photo at Circuit City as well. I am pi:mad::mad:ed that it doesn't do video though, it has a full color screen, all it needs is to support video format!!!!!!!!! But noooooo....

There is no saying that you have to wait in line to get into a store, but if you cut there will be 300 VERY angry people doing everything they can to make your BlackFriday living hell.

Sounds like BestBuy is where its at BF2006. Although sleeping in is getting a lot of votes. If your sleeping in is it because there just wasn't a deal for you or would you sleep in no matter what.

In my case I wanted a deal to be out early for just couldn't find one

I've actually never done 'early' black friday shopping by going before a store opens. How do the different places work it, especially with lines? Let in a limited amount of people at once? Just open the floodgates and let people stampede? Give out numbers? :o

Every one I've been to they just open the doors and people run in like mad! When I used to work at circuit city they made me work on black friday...I quit the next day
Went to compusa last year and almost got into several fights, I was trying to browse and people kept pusing and shoving me and such. I remember seeing on the news several fights breaking out at wal-mart. I'm hoping to be one of the first in line at microcenter so I can just chill with my beer and energy drinks in my lawn chair. I better get a nap first though because I'll have a lot of running around the store to do, finding the various items on my list :D

I've seen all three. Sometimes on XBOX/PS3 lines the police will show up especially if the store has had problems in the past.

If you spot an an employee before the store opens (usually someone has a peek about 5-10 minutes before the store opens) you might give him an earfull about the store having a responsibility to supervise the line when the store opens. And if they don't and you have line cutters find the manager and give him an earfull because he deserves it.

Hmm...I am going to be bypassing Best Buy completely this year. It looks like all the hot deals I want are pretty much centered around CompUSA and Circuit City.

I used to go shopping on BF, but a few years ago I got to BB early and was 14th in line, no tickets were handed out for the 5-noon items at all. 5 minutes before the store opened a huge mob arrived and rushed the door when BB opened the doors. I did not buy anything and stopped shopping at BB after that.

11-23-06, 08:11 PM
Hm I don't know maybe I'll risk not going early. It would be a lot nicer to not have to mess with my sleep schedule, I have to work at 11:30A so I would go right when I'd usually be going to sleep. I'm pretty damn good when it comes to working my way through crowds ;) although I think it's a bit low-class and crude running like a mad chicken to get to stuff first :-/

I guess what I don't get is obtaining the actual items. On larger items obviously an employee has to go in the back to get your item, so in that case is it really a mad dash to find the first employee you can?

All the stores in my area are giving out coupons starting like 2 hrs before they open with the first in line. If you get the coupon you can get the product but if you don't have it you don't get it. So that way when the doors open the people are not running in like mad because they will already know if they are gonna get it. I have done a few BFs but I am probally gonna skip this one. Haven't seen anything I really just gotta have. Wife and Kid outta town I am gonna enjoy a morning of sleep.

last time i went out shopping on black friday i was at walmart. i was run down by a crazed old lady and her shopping cart. a guy and his wife hit me with their cart and took the bike i was going to get my brother. i cowered in the one place no one was at. the pillow area. from which i was stuck for about a hour until my mom found me and took me home. never again will i go out shopping no mater how good the prices. i'll save my moneys :)

I think I'm going to go or at least check out the lines at Micro Center, I'm a sucker for punishment I suppose seeing as just last week I camped out for 2 days for a freakin PS3 rofl.

Picking up Xbox 360 Premium with Rainbow Six Vegas and Olevia 32in LCD HDTV. I heard they have a ton of the LCD's though like 100 of each version, hopefully that turns out true.

Last year I showed up at best buy an hour before they opened to see a line of over 200 people, no joke. Only to find out they had handed out tickets to the people at the front of the line for the good items. These people had been camped out in front of the store since noon on thanksgiving in the freezing cold for the stuff. I couldn't believe it. If you ask me, thanksgiving is a time to be thankful, not greedy. It also a time to get together with family and loved ones, not stand in front of a store all night to ensure you get the best deal on a laptop. I'm not trying to lecture, but I feel as though a lot of people need to put this kind of thing in perspective. Let's not forget, someone was shot trying to get their hands on a ps3. So everyone who is out there please be safe. Just my two cents.

P.S. Here's a word to the wise to those looking for a digital camera deal from bestbuy or another big electronics store. If you are like me and camping out overnight isn't your idea of a good way to end thanksgiving, bring the flyer to a smaller specialty camera store and get the model pricematched. I had great success with this at Ritz camera store last year pricematching a model from best buy. And in the true spirit of the holidays you can use the pricematched receipt as a golden ticket to get more cameras pricematched elsewhere for your friends and family.

OMG. Just drove by bb and compusa.. There were about 100 in line at bb and 150 at comp.. This was at 8 o'clock..

Just drove by 2 BBs, was going to camp out for a camcorder and a lappytop... Both parking lots were as if the stores were still open.

My time is worth $20 an hour normally. If you add in the cold and boredom.. lets just put that at $25 an hour at least.

Showing up five hours early and saving almost $100 is about breaking even. However, with so many people in line and having to show up earlier for a good spot... not worth it to me. So I am now in the warmth and comfort of my own home. Kudos to those who want to save/make some money camping out in front of stores.

I think I'll just work a little more overtime next week, as amount of money earned per hour worked works out much better, and I dont' have to freeze my butt off.

BB at anytime after 2PM on thursday will = nothing... u have my word on it... BB for some reason is a hot spot for these days... they are the most wanted store.... and by lining up at the front u are not guranty to run in 1st, but u are gurantee a ticket for the door buster items... anyways my philosophy is, if you're not the 1st 20 person in line, go home get some sleep, walk back in at around 4-5AM... pick up w/e is left.

Went by compusa and saw a line of 400+ but then it was because they were open 9-12 tonight. That meant atleast a 100 in the store. Friggin crazy. I would have waited for 30 people maybe just to look around but fug that. Then drove by the best buy and saw 100+ tents and people freezzing asses off in cold weather gear, I went and got a burger, mmmmmmmm. Then I dove by microcenter. Maybe 75 people or less. Maybe be trying to hit that up if i wake up naturally in the night to go pee or something. OOO yea went by Office depot that has nothing I want of course and is 2 minutes from my home. 1 person in a car. Damn you OD!

I have found as I get older I tend to spend more on my items and just cant see freezing in the cold over night for a few bucks on often low grade products. Right now I want an abit Aw9d max of course this is not on sale and some nice ddr2 mem, a high end graphics card. What is on sale is cheap mother boards, cheap memory and cheap graphics cards all of which I have no use for. My wife threatend to kick my ass if I bought another lcd/plasma so they ar out as really no ware to use.
If anyone sees a deal on a aw9d please pm me.

low grade is right, that $250 toshiba at best buy is a low grade, it's real low grade , that laptop is 200 on the SAT's

ahbroody
11-24-06, 02:37 AM
I would list my laptop model and gfx card but EDITED: I dont know are you agreeing or disagreeing????. I will say it would wreck the toshiba. As I was saying its all about tastes my man and what you are gonna use it for. To you the toshiba is good quality to me the toshiba is low grade its all relative. So lets see maybe BB has 3. and people have been camped there since atleast 3pm. at opening that would be 15 hours. Factor in what I make in an hour and spending time with my wife and children on thanksgiving day and the day after, and that wins out. next week the deals will be close likely within a few dollars

That was my point notice how no high end product as in mobos is on sale at great deals. They price the lower end items as loss leaders to get you in the store. OOO fug it man what ever, go stand out there in front of a store all night long have fun. The thread asked if we were going, I said no and why. I am not gonna appologize cause I busted my ass in life and have money. I chooe family and a sleep filled night over a few hundred dollars. For me the deals and products are not what I buy. That is why I choose not to go that was all I was saying.

You don't seem to be doing much sleeping seeing as how you're still awake. But then again I am on Eastern time.

Anywhoo... I think he was agreeing with you...

That lappytop is comparable to what I have now, but wasn't worth getting there 12 hours early for... I needs my turkey! Mmmm... turkey... cranberries...

ahbroody
11-24-06, 03:01 AM
Yeah I have a little boy so i spent my thanksgiving chasing him around a relatives house so my wife could enjoy herself. Best thanksgiving ever in my book. So many great moments. I didnt get to much turkey this year, wife packed me a plate though so hopefully I can enjoy the turkey tomorrow. I dont know I guess I just have grown to appreciate this time for what it is supposed to be. time with family and friends. Not time to freeze your body parts off and sleep in a tent on the concrete for a few dollars. As I said watch they will have similar deals leading up to christmas. in the end usually within 100 for big items and 20 dollars for lower items. So in the end you may save an extra hundred or so, for a sleepless night in the cold when you should be with friends and family. Aight I am off to bed. Maybe I will wake up at 4 and go drive out to micro center or maye not we shall see.
Peace

I got in line at CC at 10pm, was 7th. Heard that by that time BB had 100+ and already spanned the first wall. By about 4:30 there was at least 600 people in line at CC. The line was 200 yards long, and cornered the complex, so I don't know how far back along it went. The whole line spanned 3 store fronts total.

Pointless. Any of the "deals" can be found online for the same price. And if not for the same price, perhaps $30-$50 more. People seem to think that camping for a DAY to save a hundred bucks is worth it? Could have had a good time at work that day and made more money without being cold and annoyed.

My experience, this would be my 2nd time participating in BF and it went better than the first time.

Got to CompUSA last night around 6:15PM and they opened at 9:00PM. My friend and I were 6th and 7th in line, and our goal was to grab the 160GB SATA and checkout. We got in the store exactly at 9PM and the receipt was dated 9:04PM and we were in the parking lot at 9:05PM. When we were leaving the HUGE line was about 3/4 of the way to the door and almost in the store.

This morning I woke up at 2:58AM, got in the shower at 3:00AM, got out and dressed at 3:06AM, drank some milk and was at my friends house at 3:20AM. Got to staples at 3:35AM, sat in the car till a few cars drove up, and sat down in line around 3:55ishAM. Watched half of Pirates of the Caribbean in line, got the voucher for the 200GB IDE and was in the store at 6AM and we checked out at 6:10AM and were back on the road at 6:18AM and home at 6:30AM.

The weather was a cloudless sky and 30 degress, being a hunter I know this is a good time to layer up, so I wore my insulated camo bibs and jacket and was as toasty as (insert analogy). The other people were not so smart, just blue jeans and a sweat shirt because of that they were jumping around and stuff trying to keep warm.

And for picture of what I got, the UPS is very small (485VA) but will keep my modem and smoothwall up for those annoying 3 second power outages.

It's funny because I was anticipating getting a few things all week. At pretty much the last minute I changed my mind - a few things at CC and one or two at BB - after reading about rediculous lines of people by the time I would have gotten there (2-3AM) I know I wouldn't have been near the front. I didn't even bother checking to see if there were lines heh I just figured there had to be. I may swing by on my way in to work today to see if I can get super lucky since I wasn't after 'door busters' but if not oh well...there will always be deals coming and going on the things I would have gotten.

Im here at work today. Thankfully, there's only 3 other people here...with 1 being the security guard. So Im just gonna chill and surf for a little bit and then head out early. Figure being here today will give me a better chance to get time off during Xmas.

Oh yeah, the only thing I saw interesting on the news, was there was a 52'' HDTV being sold somewhere in NY/NJ area for under $500. I think an RCA according to another post here. Other than that, nothing worth staying in the cold/rain for.

The best buys got pwned pretty much like the Amazon servers today on that Xbox deal. I didn't even bother with BB, glad I didn't because I made out very well at Microcenter.
