As most of us know the video game company Rare is now owned by Microsoft, which means on the Virtual Console Rare games will not be playable because they are owned by Microsoft now. This is a huge dissapointment. No Conker's Bad Fur Day, Banjo-Kazooie, Tooie, and Goldeneye.

I dont really blame MS... if nintendo were in the same position they would do the same thing.

I dont care who's fault it is, its just MS is gonna take the blame for this one.

Those were some of the best 64 games made, and now you cant play them because all this bs

You can still play them on the 64...

That's some serious BS. Conker, Banjo, Goldeneye & Perfect Dark were some of the best games of the N64 ever made. The console will be hacked and emulators will be made for it, only time.

This going to become increasingly problematic for Nintendo (as I've been saying). Sony and Microsoft already have most of the key developers in their pocket and it's going to be very difficult for Nintendo to lure away those that remain.

It wont be to bad, the n64 had plenty of good 1st party games. Original Super Smash...mabey even online? How cool would that be! (and i know its possible because i play it online with project64)

:( I really hope we do see GoldenEye. That would make my VC collection complete.

Dude, them I'm going to blame Nintendo for not letting MS sell Mario and Zelda classics on XBL arcade and making us play Contra arcade instead of Contra NES!!!

Makes a lot of sense, heh?

Any self-respecting gamer should still have a N64 or at the very least not eat fast food for 3 meals and buy one.

ps what would be cool is N64 SSB enhanced with online play. Now that would kick butt.

I would think that since Nintendo and Rare obvioualy had a contract to make those games for the N64 those licenses are still open for Nintendo to use...I'm no lawyer though....your also forgetting Killer Instinct that was Rare too.

Rare retained the rights to those (their) IPs and the old games.

Which is the reason Nintendo can release the Donkey Kong Country series, and other Rare games that used Nintendo characters. Nintendo still owns those characters outright, whereas Rare owns any characters they made.

Rare was only a 2nd party.
