Hello. My network is 3 comp, on the Hub, no server, two of them 2000 pro, and one is 98 SE. When I go from 2000 to 2000 it ask me for password to get in, I put login and password, and it let me in to comp. Is there a way to go without password???
And there is the main problem, when I go from 98 to 2000's it will ask me for just Network password, and when I put it in there, it doesn't go thru. Help me out if any body has the same thing.
Thanks.
Pete.

This is because with win2k on your network it's acting more like a client server than just a bunch of clients. win2k pro is basically a server without the server apps, so the security is the same.

To my knowledge there is no way to not have a password for win2k, and the reason win98 asks for a password when accessing win2k is because it thinks win2k is a server. What ever your user name on the win98 comuters are you have to add them as users to the win2k computer because for some stupid reason win98 just tries to use the username you're logged in as.

Now that I think of it, You can make a blank password on win2k, it will still ask you for the login and password, but you can just leave the password blank. So just make sure the username is the same for all computers with no password and you shouldn't have a problem.

WinXP will automatically log you in if there's only 1 user and no password, but the file sharing is going to be the same thing.

Also put an account on each 2K machine for the other 2k machine. That will resolve the password issue. Especially if you log on to them using different usernames and passwords.
