View Full Version : Quick request for the sig editing page

This has been bugging me ever since I joined, but it never occurred to me to request it until just now. When you click the "Save Changes" button on the page where you edit your sig, it takes you back to the main User CP page. Any chance we could get it to go back to the same Edit Signature page instead? The reason I'm asking this is cause after you save your changes, you can't see if they had the effect that you wanted. I know theres the preview button, but I recently changed something in my sig and thought I had all the coding right, but it turned out that I had a COLOR tag outside of a URL tag instead of vice versa and I didn't notice until I saw one of my own posts on the forums. If the Save Signature button went to the same Edit Signature page, I would have noticed my mistake before exiting. Its just a redundancy thing.
The other argument for it is if you want to make a big change but in stages. If you just wanted to do one or two things at a time, it would be very helpful if the save button kept you on the edit page instead of making you click through to the page.

I just edit it all in notepad so I can see everything (box is so SMALL) then paste it into the box, click preview and click save.
Click preview first isn't THAT difficult is it? ;)
But if it's an easy job I don't see why it would be a no-no.

When I am playing with my sig. I just use the preview until I am happy with it.
Then I will publish (save) it. I can see how it looks up to the save. All in one spot.

As suggested above, the preview button serves the purpose you are trying to describe. ;)

Except my last part, about saving and previewing at the same time. Thats basically what i was trying to say, that I think it would be helpful to have a button that would save your sig and show you what it looks like at the same time.
I am sorry, but I do not understand what you are trying to get at LoneWolf. From what I understand, you want to be able to save your sig and preview it right after to make sure that you did not miss anything, correct? If this is the case, then as has been stated before, the Preview button would do the same thing. If you were to hit the preview button, it would give you a preview of what your modified sig would look like and then if there are any errors, you would be able to fix them up. Then, after you are satisfied, you can just hit the save button to apply your changes.
Why I believe that this is how it should be is because if you save your signature while you are editing, your signature gets changed in every post on the forums. So if you were taking a few hours to specially modify your signature, and kept on saving it ever 5 min, then people reading your other posts would see all sorts of things. I believe that this would detract from the professional look of the forum, and just look inappropriate. The Preview button skips all of this and just shows you what your changes would look like. Also, if you are worried about losing your modifications due to internet/computer stabability problems, then I would recommend you save your modifications on your computer by means of notepad.
