I got a friend's computer and im in the process of installing xp. Only problem is that if you try to boot from CD, when it says press any key to boot from cd, it doesn't recognize it. What i have to do is turn the hard drive from 'auto' to 'none'. But when installing XP, it still recognizes the hard drive when installing the files. But when you go the mandatory reboot, it comes up with this error:

"Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem. Could not read from the selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware. Please check the windows documentation about hardware disk configuration and your hardware reference manuals for additional information."

Ive tried 2 different hard drives and they both work fine, they are detected and everything. the cd works fine and so does the cd drive.

  :bang head :bang head

Thoughts??
