I just found this on 1 of my local websites which I occasionally shop at (if it wasn't for there high delivery charges I would more) I didn't know they created DVD-RW's on the SATA channel. This is cool as I might get 1 can free up a IDE port and get rid of the last ribbon cable in my system for more air flow.

Hmmmm wonder if they do a DVD-ROM drive as well in SATA connection?

hmm...one of the reviewers said that you would need to install the drivers for this drive when installing windows...is that right?...i figured it would be almost the same as ide...

Yep, drivers needed for XP or older. I would think Vista should be able to support them without......

So if it needs driver can you include them in a Slipstream install I have tried it with my Promise TXT2 Plus SATA controller but it just seems to crash. I might try it again thou cause that was with a unattended install.

The new Dell's don't even have any ide ports.
All drives are Sata.
In fact when I was price shopping dell had the best price on Sata dvd-rw's.
