Not too shabby around the country. Little Slow to CA and TX from Chicagoland area. But still not too bad.

Disappointingly, you got 207 ms for the latency. That's high for cable and DSL. Even my 56k modem can go lower than that. Cable and DSL usually is no higher than 90 ms.
That's actually enough to be thinking about getting a different ISP, IMO.
Appears to be routing problems. But may be temporary.
I'm just concerned, because that was for only 100 miles.
I would understand somewhat if the test server was located in the pacific zone.

The latency is bad, even for 56k, I know that it can do majorly better.
I wonder if it's because of the fact that I using the Windows 2000 default settings?
But, when I pinged a web server with 1 32-byte packet, it was where it shall be at:

Not bad for a university connection. Too bad it slows down a lot.
Lucky you, your university doesn't throttle the upload per host.
Do you have daily quotas? At Purdue, you only get 5GB per day.

It was about 8Mb last time I was home, in the summer. Now it's 22Mb. Comcast has been busy.
When I'm back down at school, it's almost twice as fast as it currently is here - I can download at about 4MB/s (note big-B, not lame little-b), when all the douchebags in our dorms aren't destroying bandwidth on P2P programs and bittorrent.
Upload here at home is as it always has been, about 40-50kB. But at school (dorms) I can upload at a bit more than 1MB.

man I'm jealous of a lot of those speeds.
I'm on comcast at UofM in Ann Arbor, with 36 guys on our wireless setup(which is buggy )
not sure what speed it's supposed to be...also my connection to the wireless network is crap right now, reads 2Mbps...cause of weak signal. The router above my room isn't setup right or something and we don't get internet out of it right now even tho the signal is great.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this (my eyes glaze over when I see a thread is more than 3 pages) but I didn't get the best results from the test site nearest me. I'm just on my laptop borrowing some neighbor in the neighborhoods wifi connection (don't climb up on your high horse yet, yeah i pay for broadband but I'm reading this in my living room) and I got the lowest score from the site nearest me. The site in KY gave me a 9xx upload but different sites in California gave me 1xxx and a site in Dallas gave me 2xxx upload speed.

This is 1.5 ADSL as available in 90% of Auz. Major centers have ADSL2+ now, but this is the fastest most people can have here. And the government doesn't think we need speed increases.... (my connection is good too, <60 meters from the exchange )

At home in NJ. Last I checked, we were on ADSL 1.5/768. But I'm pretty sure my dad moved to a lower tier, since he doesn't exactly need the speed. Any lower then this and stuff gets annoying choppy (ie flash movies and stuff)
Also, apparently Opera doesn't play nice with the ping test. This is the only similarity between this test and my test back at university, and in both cases it reports an astronomical ping that I don't see in real-life.

We have Direct 10Gigabit Fiber all the way to Cincinnati's bells connection to the world and the google backbone :D The slowest downloads are around 5Mb/s.. limited by 100 megabit networks in the school. In the IT room we have 2 servers connected to the fiber network.. Typically get downloads around 20Mb/s and uploads around 60Mb/s.. its pretty INSANE!!

Thats on the crappy nz wide plan of "unlimited" adsl.. crock of **** tbh :P you pay out the ass for a tiny data cap.. i mean, we pay $100/month for those speeds and a 50gb cap, which only 1 isp that i know of offers (most are 10gb or lower)

I <3 my school. I downloaded a few 700MB things in less than 7 minutes last week. I'm sad that I'm graduating in a couple of weeks and going back home to comcast. Although it's not bad in my area, for downloading at least. Last I was home and tested in December, I was getting around 2.5MB/s down. Still same old garbage 45kB/s up. I don't, and never will, agree with that limitation.

Pretty interesting.
I couldn't see a major difference like that between Firefox and Internet Explorer when I just tested my new DSL connection.

If you run the speed test in Opera you will get very strange latency, I know IE and Firefox are fine however.
I dunno, because even with Firefox and Internet Explorer, speedtest.net has a habit of almost always displaying high latencies. :(
When I use the ping command at the command prompt, I get a good 24 ms or not too far from there.

On top of this, my cable company is dropping the price from $54.95/month to $19.99/month (for the next 12 months) for being a "loyal customer." In reality, it is because Verizion just completed running fiber through our neighborhood and they hope people don't switch.

Usenet>all ;) School internet FTMFW!! Multiple OC3's during the summer!!
Check the status bar at the bottom to see speeds. Speakeasy/testmy... none of their servers are fast enough.... topped at at 27Mbps on those a while ago. Usenet however.... DOUBLES that!!

Well one gets what one pays for - this costs the equivalent of $18 USD per month. I could get 4096 kb/s for the equivalent of USD 35 per month.
I'm curious to know how much do you pay?

On the laptop, damn you England and your refusal to upgrade copper to fiber! Will post from main PC later as this PC has a 11mbps wifi card and the main PC uses ethernet and firefox. Would like to see the difference it makes. Also, I envy all those in Korea, 100mbps standard
I've had DSL that had a max of 400kb/s down for the last few months, and going from that, back to Comcast, has been flat out mind boggling. It's just incredible. When I had DSL I wouldn't even bother trying to download demo's unless I was leaving it over night. With Comcast I just downloaded the Tomb Raider Anniversay Demo in 3 minutes! :attn:
I just got Comcast back last night so I'm really excited about it.

Gah!!
My connection stablized to about 16xxxkbps. Though the upload still has issues over 700kbps.
Least my connection is not like the Comcast lines. Where it gives huge speeds until the 10 meg mark. Then drops like a rock.
