Except PC3200 memory is also up pretty significantly in price as well. It wasn't too long ago that you could get 2gb of PC3200 for ~$140, and now it is over $200.

Thats what happens when they quit making it. Its more expensive to buy new and worth less to sell.

Look at SDRam people practically give it away used but the new prices definetly aren't pretty.

They stopped making it entirely? I had no clue.

Same thing happens with processors...have you seen what they charge for older Pentium IIIs and the likes at stores that still have them? The highest priced S939 processors aren't the Venice, San Diegos and Opterons, but instead it is the Newcastle and Clawhammer cores that are priced the highest.

Those cheap Opterons and San Diegos, plus the Dual Cores that are so cheap now will start going up in prices as the manufacturing ceases at the end of the year, or so. Just watch.

DDR2 prices are starting to stabilize a little bit, though. It is the Micron D9GMH and the D9DKX that are priced so high, especially the higher binned DKX. They are starting to use Promos and Infineon chips, along with a few of the others in the less overclocker geared modules and this is helping reduce the cost...of course, not that any of us would really want anything but the Micron. :D
