I'm in the final planings on a full computer upgrade and i'm having a hard time deciding which psu to get some choices on my list are

Zippy PSL-6850P 850W
PC Power & Cooling Turbo Cool 850W
Silverstone Zeus ST85ZF 850W

and

Zippy GSM-6600P 600W
PC Power & Cooling Turbo Cool 510

The computer is used for pretty much everything and will be a e6600 setup (don't do much gaming anymore so i'll prob go with a 7950 over the 8800's)

The one reason i have the higher wattage units on top is because i have 8 HDD's tho it would be rare for them to all be in use (data storage)

any sugestions/recomendations would be welcome
thanks

I think for me it would be between the Zippy 600W and Silverstone 850W. The PC P&C 850W is being discontinued (too close in price to the 1kW anyway), the Zippy 850W is loud, and the PC P&C 510W is an old inefficient design. Then again, the Zippy 600W is based on an older design too.

I hear the PC Power 510 is loud. But it is one of the best supplies there is. If you have no plans for SLI 510W is plenty.

Zippy makes great supplies, as good or better that PC P&C and usually cheaper.
Jonny reviews the 600W HERE (http://www.jonnyguru.com/review_details.php?id=14). He gives it a 9 out of 10. And Super Nade will tell you they are great also.

Jonny also reviews the Zeus HERE (http://www.jonnyguru.com/review_details.php?id=15). Again it is a great PSU. My one concern is that the only differnce between the 850W and 750W is the transformer. The PCB's in the 850W are marked 750W. Whether this matters or not I don't know.

The 850W Zeus cost $280 on the EGG, while the 750W cost $190. They are identical except for there transformers.

My sugestion is get the SILVERSTONE ST75F for $190. 750W is more than you will need anyway, and save $90.

ps I plan on buying a ST75F myself.

I faced the same dilemma and picked up the Zippy because that was all I could afford at that point. A small discount is available on the Zippy GSM if you choose to go this route.

You can't go wrong with either unit. :)

Edit*
Looking at your load budget, a Silverstone Zeus ST56ZF would be more than adequate. Comes with the solid specs of Etasis builds.

Zippy does seem like a safe choice or maybe the Silverstone Zeus ST56ZF 560W i think i might strike the 750 off my list. Money isn't an issue at this point but i don't want to go wasteful and i'm not going to run sli/xfire.

If you are not planning on significantly heavy loads, I'd just go with the cheaper ST56ZF Zeus (priced at about $130).

Yep, I'd recommend the ST56ZF that Super Nade noted. Those other PSU's are all great, but probably much more than you need for that setup.

EDIT: And even if you decided to go SLI with those 7950's, that ST56ZF would still do just fine.

WOW, the site that you get to from the link you posted has pretty great prices, at least on the few Silverstone PSU's that I compared to Newegg's prices! The 850W Zeus, for instance, is $289.42 shipped at Newegg....at Deadeye Data with the JonnyGuru discount, you get it for $220.83 shipped!
And the prices are way lower even before that discount is applied!
