I noticed that Newegg is now carrying those Killer nics http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833342001
Has anyone purchased one of these or even messed with them? They really seem like the biggest scam on the internet right now. My gaming rig in my sig I was doing a large file transfer to my server hitting around 80 to 100 percent network utilization and lost maybe 1 FPS in the fear performance test from haveing the network cable disconnected.

From what I've heard they actually DO help (slightly)....but it's really not worth what they cost. I think if they were maybe $50-$70 then they might be worth it...but they are overpriced more than the PhysX cards :)
Unless you are a rich dude, I'd recommend skipping it.
Suggestion - read the reviews

According to these reviews it does increase FPS a bit and decrease latency a bit (little bit)

But I still say it isn't worth it's weight in silver dollars.

This is targeting the high end. If moneys no object and you game, you'd probably own one of these.

I'd buy it for $10, maybe. It's a waste.

Oh, well then it's definitely worth it :)

You contradict yourself :D
Wikipedia says silver dollars weigh roughly 25g, and the shipping weight of a Killer NIC is 3lbs. A wee bit of google-fu shows (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&client=opera&rls=en&hs=Qbs&q=3+pounds+%2F+25+grams&btnG=Search) that 54 silver dollars would equal the shipping weight. In other words, it's weight in silver dollars falls within the "$50-$70" you say they may be worth :D
Now, admittedly it does not work if you also add in the additional value that silver dollars have adopted through the years. I haven't done any extensive research, but it seems the Morgan dollars tend to go for somewhere between $25 and $50 usually. With 54 of them needed to equal the weight, even the $25 coins would be worth approximatly 4x the retail price of the card.
On a only minimal tangent, it turns out that the Killer NIC is selling for just over 1/3 the price of silver at the moment (which is currently valued at $14/oz).

/me would love to find the weight of the card itself, since I doubt the 3lb shipping weight is correct. It's totaly screwing up my numbers ;)

The only cool feature I find in this card is the ability to "false lag" during a online fps game. To lure them into an area thinking they will get an easy kill. Read about this thing many times. It's nice but there is no way I'd pay that price for that when you can run a script and do the same thing. Which is all this fancy nic does anyway but does it internaly.
