Well it says DDR, but does that mean It can also use DDR2?

The laptop is the one walmart was selling for 400bucks.

I got that one too. Had a fit loading xp pro and getting the drivers for it from HP. In particular the usb and smbus. I do have the right smbus driver if you would like it to load another os. I found the usb after loading sp2 for xp pro.

Also note that a64 tweaker works on the laptop substantially dropping my fold times while on the road. Ram can run at 183 instead of 166 and 1T instead of 2T as setup. All 3 timings can be changed to 2. DDR 3200 would seem to be a good substitute. I tried with tweaker but the ram is not up to it and vid scrambled. If you can find it ddr 3200 cas 2 I think would work well. Processor is working at 200. Board is ati sb. Tightened timings above brought 2414 fold times down 6 minutes a frame. Having difficulty finding a software oc'ing solution for the mobo. Would think it could do 2.2Ghz safely.

For those that need it and for me as well, here is the smb bus driver that HP does not like to make publicly available but is needed if a new system is installed on the ati sb400 chipset. I.E. in particular the compaq presario v5305wm and most likely the 5000 series though I can not swear to this.

Download it and burn it so you always have it along with the other drivers they do show at the site for the board.

Thanks for the drivers, Also why is DDR more expensive then DDR2 if DDR2 is superior?
