So much for the ultra-secure bulletproof ever changing with incompatible versions copyright juggernaut known as HDMI  Also note that the movie takes up less than 21GB, not nearly the amount a BD disc will hold (surprise, surprise, surprise). Disclaimer: Now you can keep all your shiny BluRay discs scratch free on your shelf, just go out and get a 250GB HDD and a USB 2.0 enclosure.

/\Maybe that day will come for me one day too, for now though it's just old.
Anyway the links dead and 21GBs for a movie is a very large amount considering some movies will end up being 3 times as long with 50 hours of bonus features. As for the format, well it's a well known fact that there is not true security in the technology world, only walls to slow people down. On the plus side though it's good to hear, I wonder if Sony will fix this in an update.

even with a 250gb drive, it would fill up fast. i guess $50 blue ray movies will stop people from buying a lot of them tho.

The movies are actually more like $25-$35.

/\And can only go down in price. Any idea what is the max PS3 drive support? I know the PS2 can go to at least 400GBs but thats with special software.

oh i thought they were more. still, too much for me. IN MY OPINION, movies should be around $12, and i don't care what bonus features are on it. around here its $8 to get into a movie.. i think 50% more than that is fair to own it on dvd (maybe a BIT more for something like blueray). i never pay $20 for a dvd..i wait till walmart has it for around $5 (good thing i like to collect cheesy kung fu flicks).

I look at it like this (movies theates are $10 here btw): a typical DVD costs $15-$20, so the DVD is cheaper than 2 people going to the theater. A BD or HD-DVD movie is $25-$35, so one of those is cheaper than a family of 3-4 going to the theater.

The way I look at it... the link's down. Do you remember how it's done?

It took some Linux fannagelling. Wait a bit, after it's through being Dugg, it'll come back up.

yes, but a movie night out with my girlfriend is a NIGHT OUT! ;)

i've got very few DVD's that i have watched more than 2 times. i think the last movie i payed full price for was The Royal Tenenbaums, and i've watched that one at least 6 times. worth the money yes..but i can't justify full price on all the movies i want. just gotta collect em on the cheap over time. :(
