Anyone have one of these or can share personal experiences with them? Have been considering buying a portable MP3 player but have been apprehensive because they are so delicate & susceptible to water damage. I want something I can take fishing, hiking, and camping without fear of moisture or dropping it in the water. From what they say you can take the Oregon Scientific player swimming - and it's good to depths of 3 meters for 30 minutes.

Thanks for any info you can provide.

P. S. - Before anyone says it - Yes I already looked into the iPod. No interest in dealing with iTunes & format change (MP4/M4A). The click-wheel is very nice yet that is not a priority. The Nano with it flash memory is more robust yes, but still not very durable overall. Portability & durability are my main goals. Thank you

In something you may use every day or for days at a time with no power. 10hr battery life isnt that long. You also have to remember that that is a 'in optimal conditions' number and could be for fm and not mp3 playback, at the lowest volume setting and with no skipping, fast forwarding, or EQ settings.

Not that I found anything better for your requirements.

That same model can be had for $132 from several retailers.

Now that I think about it, that Oregon player has a few features which do not interest me at all. Pedometer, calorie counter, & stop watch? Wonder how much a stripped down version would cost.
