I'm still looking into purchasing a DirectX10 video card and was wondering if a 460W Power Supply will be sufficient to operate the video card and everything else in my system. Specifications are listed in my signature.

I'm not sure if combining a P4 with a DX10 Card is such a good idea on a 460W supply..

I'd say go for 500Watts and use a QUALITY supply, then you should be fine.

Make sure efficiency is at least 80%, 85% is better...

Depends on what card you get and if you OC'ing it.

400W recommended for the 8800:

I probably wouldn't overclock it. Is it just 400W for the video card itself, or is it for the whole computer?

I believe that is for the whole computer. This is of course a guess on thier part, they don't know what CPU you have, nor if your OC'ing it.

So then do you think I'd be safe getting a DirectX10 card with the 460W Power Supply I have?

you should be ok. who made your current PSU?

o yea, and BTW efficiency doesn't help the amount of watts, efficiency only helps with cooler temperatures and less of an electricty bill. even if the efficiency was 20% there would still be 460 watts of power.

but then again. the higher the efficiency the better.

I would guess that with a single DX10 card (such as the one out now) you woudl be fine. However this doesn't stand for all DX10 cards and you should do some looking into specifics (manufacures site etc) to get the correct recommendation when you decide on a specific card.
