Well, i am new to the overclocking world. But thought i would give it a try. I have an asus a7a mb and an athlon 1.2.

I have had it running for over a month. When i first started i could easily set it up to 1400 no problems. Although the temp got hot and i tried to wait off a lil bit till i had better cooling. Well i got me a better heatsink and delta fan and i was in better shape.

Well the last week or so i couldnt even keep it stable at 1200 with no adjustments to FBS or cpu. My memory didnt want to overclock the greatest ever.

Well now it wont boot at all. I can get it to stay up for maybe 5 minutes and it goes down. Then i could wait alil come back and it would work for a lil bit longer. Most 30 minutes. NOw i have nothing. If i mess with the dip switches, take out the battery,, pull out the memory or something once and i while i get it to boot up for a few.. but now.. nothing as i said

now any guesses on what i could of fried
cpu
memory
motherboard

guess i was gonna replace one, and was gonna start at the cpu, i gave it the most wear and tear at first, it was staying around 51 temp at the end... but once a while would spike really quickly for a breif second.

any suggestions

Oh dear....Welcome to the overclocking world.

I fried mine on my first attempt (it was a 166 pushed to 200.......).

If you have some friends with similar gear, try your bits on their bits etc, and see what's gone first..........

thanks.
None of my friend are computer geeks :)
Hence why i am here :)

maybe i will find me a cheap duron and test the mb..
boy this is a fun.. yet expensive hobby :)

but i think its great!!!!!!!
and just found this forum tonight.
looks like a nice place to relax

This was my first computer i built, and guess i tore it down to :)

Yeah, we're pretty relaxed around here. Unless we're o/cing something to the max, then it's panic stations.......

It's a nice place to hang out, swap problems and suchlike......

That's the good thing about Socket A. If you blow your T-bird or XP, you can always chuck in a cheap Duron to keep you going.....

If you like seeing how your CPU acts under a constant load, have you thought about running SETI@Home on it?

Mine is on all the time, and I'm running at a sweet 42C core temp just now (must edit my sig.......)

yeah i downloaded the seti a few days ago
and i was reading the seti stuff section a few minutes ago.
i was told this was a good way to see how stable my pc is.
i am not really sure what the overall goal of seti is.

i gotta work on my temp
i havent modded my case much, but i have put some minor changes like a slot fan, one of those 2coolpc turbo fans and a Thermalright sk6 heat sink and delta fan.

but still running in low 50's .

from all the cases i see the are bigger towers. guess thats what i need more room maybe.

:)
well guess i can play more when i get me a new cpu.
off to pricewatch ... xp or a 1.4 tb hrmmmm :)
