So I bit the bullet and got one, this is to replace the 850XT PE that I had. just some numbers off of the top of my head:

going from 850XT PE 3d mark05: 6k
going to 1950 pro: 9k

850xt PE 3dmark06: 17xx
1950 pro: 33xx

These were not optimised numbers, I just throw it in and ran it, apps were running in the back ground. Saw some improvements on the regular games I play, COH, UT2k4 (not as much, since the old one already screamed), Prey, HL2. I might keep this thing for a while yet.

Yup, Does look pretty awesome for folks still on Agp, My wife is still on Agp, However I think I will just upgrade her to Pci-e when really needed.

Wow...My 7800GS just lost an inch. Could you post the SM scores and some FPS results from the benches.
Also do you have the 05 Patch? Without the patch you can't search and compare.

the 05 I dowloaded directly from them, didn't know about the patch, I'll go home tonite and see about getting that up. and what is SM scores? and which FPS would you like to see?

atitool does show temps... doesnt it?it does for me... maybe you havent enabled it, or atitool doesnt fully support your card...

I hope you don't mind I joined our screens for a side by side comparison.
So was your card at default clocks? My screen shows my 7800GS at 460/1350with my 3.2 P4 at 3.5 and still b-neckin.
Looks like the 1950 really shines in HDR/SM3. And my 7800 with an edge in SM2...wonder why? Could you run 05, little more GFX intensive.

well, I tried but for some reason the details box is greyed out and doesn't let me click on it and the only thing it let me do is click the view your results online. once that's clicked it brought up the ORB. This is with the newest one I downloaded 2 days ago, so maybe that's what changed.

any how I rerun the benchmark and here's what i got

heh i have no idea how good is the 7900 so can't comment there, i haven't been back to this side in a while since the 850xt pe, so. I thought that my current machine could still hold me out for a while so that's why i wanted to get an agp version. What do you mean "Whats with that tools FPS?" No No..you used the right Tool. I just expected higher FPS seeing how well your card performs in 05.

ah gotcha. not sure either maybe it is limited i think i heard somewhere that it only has 8 pipes. anyhow here's one with updated atitool

My card was overclocked. 618/729.
The cooler on the visiontek card is not very good.
The max over clock on the card is about 640/740.

Box stock 3Dmark06 is 3387.

$300 for a x1950 256 agp is way too much money. I'm a folder and we were having a discussion about the performance of an AGP card compared to a PCI-E card. We were also comparing performace from faster to slower CPU's. The slower CPU afftects performace slighly on folding 10-15% per Mhz.
I got this card to fold and give information back to the folding community

The x1950 512 AGP should perform close to the x1900xtx 512. For about
200-250 for that card would be a fair price.

Euroharp001, look around online. The x1950 AGP was out in europe before is was here. I saw one forsale in German online store. Can't read german so i don't know if it was in stock.

$300 for a x1950 256 agp is way too much money.
Although the price seems outlandish in comparison to PCI-E cards, you have to remember that these cards cost a whole lot more to manufacture, the PCB is completely different, and the inclusion of the Rialto bridge chip is necessary to translate the native-ly PCI-E speaking RV570 core over to AGP.

You also have to remember that there's a ton of guys clinging to their outdated AGP systems, who will pay a pretty penny to have a modern, fast card like this. They could have set the price even higher and still sold a ton of them.

I actually think the 1950AGP is reasonably cheap. Especially compared to some Nvidia AGP offerings.

Does anyone know how long the warranty for the 512mb Sapphire x1950 Pro AGP is? I've got one pre-ordered but I couldn't really find out about warranty (which is important to me, I've had to RMA so many graphics cards).

I noticed on the ZZF listing it showed it as having 8 pixel pipes with the 36 shaders, Doesn't the Pci-e version have 12 pipes with 36 shaders? Could of course just be a misprint on ZZF's site.

Not sure where you've seen that, but 32/8 is the spec for both PCIE and AGP for the X1950 PRO.

i think i'll be getting a sapphire 512mb card. here in the uk they are over £100 cheaper than the gainward 7800gs+. £188 for the ati versus £294 for the nvidia..... :rolleyes:

i think it should be a good match with my dothan. i can put off upgrading the whole pc for another year at least. :D

heh well, I don't intend on taking the thing off anytime soon so sorry i can't help you in that department, my rig is on a Titan water cooled case and it is a dog trying to move around. However, if I can't find another block for my CPU I might have to take it off and put on the VGA block on the 1950. Within a week or so we'll know. If I do I'll sure will take some pics for you.

Well I got a cheap one over here in Germany it´s the club 3d x1950 pro . Works great just wanted to post scores only saved one for so far I will post more later !!!

I'm planning to use a Swiftech MCW50 with a custom (self made) retention plate to fit the four holes around the GPU!
