Reviews are cool and all, it's nice to know the specs of a drive and what it can and can not do... but, before I charge one up and fill out the $30 rebate for a 24x10x40x drive, I was hoping to get some unbiased opinions from anyone on these boards.

I was looking at buying one from for $160 - $30 (rebate) in the end for $130. Which beats the current OEM pricing. Thanks to anyone who gives their .02¢

if you're wondering... alt+0162 = the cents symbol "¢" ;)

I have a Plextor 24x10x40 and love it. Its worked flawless and guess what---NO COASTERS. I am very happy with it. There are cheaper Drives out there, but you always get what you pay for.

I only buy Plextors, I've got a 12x10x32 in my G4 and a 16x10x40 in my dual tbird system and haven't had any problems with them.

I have a 12-4-32 SCSI Plextor and it's a good burner, but doesn't have burnproof like the new IDE Plextor drives do. They are like the Lexus of CDRW.;)

Thanks all! I have read that they are a good company to buy. But I have also read a few complaints about the cd tray being weak and break... but since none of you mentioned that, I can only guess what those people were doing to break a cdrom tray.

Thanks again! Going to order one up real soon!

Time to retire the 4x2x24 HP writer I have at home... that poor little guy has written it's last cd!
