Hi everyone I'm pretty new to the forums and I was wonderin if any of you knew some ways to overclock my cpu. I have an amptron mobo and it sucks really bad but I have to live with it,well back to the point, I don't really know how to make it go faster without it freezing. It freezes even when you put the fsb up to 102 and I don't understand at all what I'm doin so I nedd all the help I can get.

Welcome to the forums! I would check the guides on the front page for a starting point! I had a Duron 700 overclocked to 980. It really depends on you core components. I'm really not familiar your mobo. Usually when you increase you fsb, you have to increase your vcore.

Well I wouldn't say it sucks. If it's stable, then I would consider it okay! What kind of memory do you have. I would think you would be able to run at 133 fsb! Maybe there is a Jumper you need to switch! I'll look it up! What is the complete name?

Upon hearing the name Amptron I'm not optimistic. Still, if the board won't yield better results the chip still may. You can short the L7's on the chip top to boost the voltage. If that doesn't give a more stable overclock you could short (and possibly open) the L1's to make the board assume you've got a Duron 800 (or faster).

its an amptron 805 mobo

Main Chipset
Via Apollo KT133
Supports AMD Athlon / Duron processors
Supports 100 & 200MHz Front-Side BUS speeds

Memory
Supports up to 1GB or registered SDRAM
Provides (2) 168-pin DIMM slots
Supports PC-100 & PC-133 memory modules

Do you have PC-100 or PC-133? That could hold you back! eobard brings up some nice points! This was the 805L, that's the only one I could find!

Having generic ram could cause you system to freeze, if you increase the fsb to much.

well in the bios theres an option for host clk and hat clk+33 should i turn it to +33 or turn up the fsb and try that

If you have all your memory settings to default, I would give it a shot. I don't see why you couldn't run 133 fsb! Even at default vcore voltage!

I once modded the bridges on a 750 duron to 900 and worked great on an Epox 8KTA board that had no multiplier adjustment. It worked great until mu buddie's board got zapped by a lightning strike surge through the modem. The chip survived though; it's now running in a KK266R motherboard. I had to cut a couple of bridges and that was tough to do. I finally cut them with an electric engraver. Also, like what was said earlier, you can pencil in the L7 bridges and raise your vcore voltage all the way to 1.85 volts. That should help stabilize your proc when overclocking. Just watch you temps close as when you raise the vcore, the heat comes up pretty fast.

That's about the limit for a KT133 chipset. If you wanted 133+ you'd need a KT133A.
